OK here's my question. How does Google Page Rank affect position in search results? And is page rank relative to search terms, location and competition? Will a page with rank 4 always beat a page with rank 2 for any search terms? I find it confusing, does anyone have a simple, concise explanation how page rank works? Ste
Well, no one can clearly Solve out your question since it doesnt have an answer which proves to be complete. Pagerank is inshort, means How Famous is our site. It increases with more links from here and there, which should be relative to be usefull maximum. More Links = More site visibility to Bots = Rank to our Page. Search Engine Result Ranks Depends on Content Cencentration, keywords, tags all those. And Pagerank too Have a Role to play there but no one knows how major its role is. There is no Such rule which keeps PR high Sites above PR Low Sites. Even i get ranked above my competitors site which has high PR than mine and from where i get the article sources. Things Change...! So no Finite Answer. Thanks.
High PageRank means more quality backlinks.. more backlinks means more chance of getting good rankings... http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356
I spent years being hung up on Google PageRank, worrying about how much traffic I was getting and where my site was ranking for different searches and then I stopped bothering with it and the following happened; ==> *** NOTHING CHANGED *** <=== So my advice is stop being hung up on PR and get hung up on making your site look good and be relevant to your market I read Sergy Brin's book and he said they always created Google with the intention that if a site is good and relevant then Google will find it for the person searching, no matter what!
Pagerank is just an indication of the amount of incoming links and the quality of the incoming links. I don't care what anybody says, it is still related to the amount of traffic you get, even if it is only related in the sense that google will dig deeper into your site.
Still don't quite get it, if page rank doesn't make any difference to the position of your site then why do people worry so much about it and why does Google bother with it? S
By the looks of it, many people dont have a clue about page rank these days, heres my take and pretty much the only logical explaination as to why it has no or minimal bearing on SERP's. Page rank is one of perhaps 250 different ranking factors, all of which are created, determined and manipulated by Google to suit them, how can you ever use something that someone else has total control of as a benchmark for success? Page rank is perhaps the only factor that we have no control of, if we want backlinks we can create them, if we need to get cached we can do it, but if you need to get PR5 then please tell me why you need PR5? ...You Dont Need PR5 or whatever PR to Rank. Tell me this, if we can manipulate pagerank buy buying links so link sellers hit there top PR and sell links on their site, bearing in mind Google does not want people selling or buying links, then how easy would it be to give all these shoddy sites a nice high PR to make it easier for them to sell?, those good sites are determined by some other factor which only Google knows. All the link sellers offering PR 5-6-7 links are all playing into G's hands, the site you are buying is not strong BECAUSE it is selling links. PR7 or not, if you are one of many then you are a small fish in a large pond, so whats the point?
