The official pagerank is dead thread!

People, concentrate on your website's content and care more about optimizing your site than aiming for high PR. A PR0 page can easily overtake PR3 pages just because it's content is better.

 

Page rank is like a reputation of the site. But if google is giving importance and giving an extra favor in indexing and ranking site in the search results. Then PageRank cannot die.

 

This don't need to go. You need to build backlinks to your site, so you can get good PR

 

Google page rank is not dead to me yet, I will give Google till the end of first week in January 2011. Then if the green bar refused to dance once again, Google pagerank is death.

 

I still think pagerank is a useful metric. What else gives you an idea of the quality/number of links pointing to your pages?

 

That it can, just one of my keywords for a 3 month old site ProxyFreak.org. Search "proxy site list" and my site is listed 2nd from the top beating out sites with PR4 on up. Other keywords I have also list me on the first 12 rankings as well. PR is nothing as long as you have good seo and great content.

PR is just for those wanting to sell links from their sites and do all kinds of measures to get PR just to make a buck. Hopefully Google has killed PR and emphasize on sites that actually are human edited.

 

This thread is an irony. If you don't want to talk about PR then don't create a thread about it.

 

The post I was replying to wasn't about _real_ PR... it was about the pointless, rapidly aging number shown in the google toolbar. I've one site that will never get a pagerank, another site that's been PR2 for at least a year and now I guess that's permanent. And a blog that hasn't been updated since last March... a permanent PR1.

 

It gives a static idea from 7+ months ago. It's only useful because people insist on clinging to it.

 

True, i have a site which is PR0 but ranks first for its primary keyword in google and the site on second spot is a PR6 and site on 3rd spot is PR5, so i dont believe in the theory of PR anymore

 

Of course, the toolbar pagerank values are months and months old, while the rankings are influenced (however slightly) by current pagerank. You really can't compare pageranks unless you have an inside source at Google to get the current values

 

Page Rank is not dead but only a handful of the sites are reliable.

 

i agree PR IS NOT DEAD
and if google wants to end this then it should remove the PR of all the sites which are getting benefit to sell the banners and adspaces only because of the PR

 

Yeah it does seem as if Google doesn't care so much for PR, do proper SEO and then don't worry about PR it will come if you are practicing the SEO rules Google wants you to implement

 

PR is good only for link sellers

 

As with everything else Google does, the death of PageRank is in extended BETA

 

PR is one of the difference between google and other search engines. People look at site's PR when they visit it and I do not think google wants to drop PR yet. It will be with us for a while until google will substitute with something else.

 

Maybe its update on Dec 31.

 

Google said that the heart of Google is Pagerank. If you remove the heart from someone, obviously he's gonna die. Without pagerank, there is not traffic. And thats the bottom line.
