Just kidding of course, but I do have a few questions about Alexa. 1. Is the toolbar really adware? 2. Is it a useful resource at all anymore? 3. What is your Alexa rank? 4. What is the benefit of having it? (Especially if Alexa changed their algorithm) (I'm ranked 86,000) - Not sure if that even means anything.
I don't know whether Alexa toolbar has any adware or not. How Alexa calculate their algorithm, is a different thing. I think Alexa is very good sources for webmasters because we don't know how many visitors or about the current site popularity of a same category website. Alexa helps webmasters by giving such of information and encourage web owners to do better than other websites. Without these kinds of information, anyone can think that they may have in the top. But now with this information, a site's actual popularity can be seen. Yesterday, my site ranking is little bit increased.
alexa is used to rank website traffic.it finds out how well you rank compared against the other sites in the web.The lower number you have the better.
No the toolbar is not a spyware. I used it in the past. Also, in the past it used to help you to rank well if you used the toolbar. Very recently they changed the algo and it doesnt work anymore that way. So its up to you what you wanna do. Its an useful tool if you want to track your rankings often, otherwise, its not required amigo.
Its useful if you want to sell advertisement on your site and that will surely attract the advertiser.
I have tried to get better ratings on Alexa but I can't download their toolbar since I have Windows Vista. I am now trying to see if the info.txt will help any.
I find the Alexa toolbar very usefull to determine the credibility of a website. For example, if you go on an seo company website and their Alexa rank is 23,000,000 then I know their not a good company right away...
I use Alexa as a gauge. Everyone says it not accurate, then its not accurate in the same fashion for everyones site. I know what my Alexa ranking is and I know my exact daily traffic. I use this to figure out what your site daily traffic might be based on your Alexa ranking. That's valuable info for me. Alexa ranking: 390k Traffic: 2k/daily
Alexa is spyware. Why would anyone promote a website or program that runs spyware on your computer? Alexa and responsible use of the internet do not go together. Alexa and the word "ethical" do not go together. If you want an accurate rating of your traffic use Quantcast or Google Analytics. A few years ago, I used to do computer repair. Alexa and Savenow were the most common spyware programs installed on my customers computers. Promoting Alexa is unethical. To use its charts or anything on its site is doing nothing more then promoting spyware.
