It's very sad when your reason for disliking someone is that they have done better than you and been more successful. Maybe if you spent more time studying instead of being bitter you might have done better for yourself.

All the candidates are rich snobs. Do you really think any of them actually represents the average American? I don't.

"Rich" and "Snob" do not necessarily go had and hand.

Bill Gates is rich, yet he and his wife give millions to education, research, and childhood affliction to which there is a cure, yet many children still die from every year.

Oprah is rich, yest she also gives and raises million to help children here in the U.S., and around the world. She has also spoke in congress supporting protection of our children.

I think it is admirable to have the ability to make it, yet still want to make things better for everyone.

Barack Obama, and Joe Biden could certainly make more in the private sector, they don't need to be public servants.
Many on this country that achieve only care about how much more they can get, and who they can screw to get it.

To hate someone who has more than you does not make them snobs, but it may make you the ultimate player hater.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the other founding fathers were all affluent land owners, yet they still had a calling to scribe out the documents for the greatest land in the world..were they snobs too?

People who say this don't seem to hate all people with money, just a certain few.
    I am sensing a pattern.

You have twisted my words. I never said that all rich people are snobs. I said that all of the candidates are rich snobs.

I do not hate any of the candidates and I never said one thing to indicate hatred for anyone.

A snob, is someone who adopts the worldview that some people are inherently inferior to him/her for any one of a variety of reasons, including real or supposed intellect, wealth, education, ancestry, etc.

Donating money to charitable groups, caring about the welfare of children, etc does not mean that a person is not a snob.

EDIT - Also a person does not even have to be rich to be a snob

you got to think that if you are running for president if you do it as a civic service.
you have to think that you are the most able person to deal with current needs of the country.
    why would you run otherwise.
unless you have a different goal

Point taken. My bad. There are some that are snobs, good for them that they can afford to be, but I think the perception that many have of others simply comes down to perception.

I can't relate to someone like Cindy McCain who has family money and is wealthy, but I can relate to people like Gates, Oprah, and Obama who started out with nothing, and created wealth.

Thank you, and you are right. Actually I disagree with the OP completely. If you want to discuss why you dont like Obama, or any other candidate, then why not talk directly about issues instead of how much money they earn. The average American cannot afford to drive the same kind of vehicle or even eat out at the same types of restaurants as the presidential candidates.

Also, the OP seems to assume that Obama is a snob simply because of the money he makes and spends. OP should read my earlier post and understand what a snob is. Yes, a person can be a snob because they think they are better than others who have less money, or they can be a snob because of race, religion, clothing brands etc etc. At the same time a person can have lots of money and material things and still be humble.

This whole thread is almost as dumb and pointless as ones I have seen where Obama was put down because his name ryhmes with "Osama"

It is my opinion that all of our candidates are snobs, but that is just my opinion and everyone has their own.

EDIT -- Wnat to know something funny? I jus got a rep for this post calling me a racist! Whaaa? I am not a racist and nothing in my post was racist whatsoever. Oh well.....

Anyone who can stand in front of 350 million people and the rest of the world and say, "I want to be President, and I am going to be better for you than anyone else" has to have a certain amount of confidence and maybe even elitism.
It doesn't mean they think they are better than anyone, personally. They are asking to be your leader.
That's not a snob, that is someone applying for a job and appealing to the people in charge of hiring him.

I didn't know where to post this, so this spot will do,

    Obama's "Neighborliness" and Taxes

This guy is an idiot who has never had a day job, or forced to clip coupons, or to ride the bus. He's so detached from reality...

What Obama calls "neighborliness" might be "neighborliness" if it was given willingly, not taken under threat of violence. People want to help their neighbors. They have no interest in paying for foreign wars, Iraqi reconstruction, or another 10,000 bureaucrats over their own need for health insurance or the education of their children.

The problem with progressively taxing, is that the person on the bottom has disincentives to work harder or get more skills and education, because they are subsidized, and the person on the top has a disincentive to create more prosperity because it will only have marginal returns as taxes increase. This is the root and failings of socialism all at once.

Until someone can come up with a system where helping A doesn't cost B anything, then socialism will never work.

Btw, why doesn't Obama donate his salary to poor people, or people who need health care? It's fine for him to lecture everyone else to sacrifice, where are his personal sacrifices? A leader has to lead by action, not just words.

Here is another thing I wanted to add.

Government basically uses two tools. Regulation and taxation, one is threat, the other theft. Both are coercion.

The waitress in Obama's example, might not need a hand-up from the person who is doing better than her. In fact, the government never ever acknowledges that the problem may be itself, and not that Johnny is doing better financially than Sally.

Maybe the government should remove taxes on tips. Maybe the government should reduce regulation in the food industry. Maybe the government hasn't considered that the waitress may be just happy to be a waitress. She doesn't want to be the CEO of a corporation.

There are two fundamental issues here.

    1. Not all jobs are equal, and so they don't pay equally. I might want to do nothing for a living, in which case, my income should be zero. And likewise, if I am a school bus driver, I probably will not make as much as an electrical engineer, due to difficulty, education and scarcity. Of course, we can't live in a world where everyone makes the same amount, because then there would be no incentive to get that extra education, or do a dangerous, remote or difficult job. It's the incentive of higher pay that allows us to fill the more specialized and skilled roles in society.

    2. The government never says, "Hmm, what can I do to make it easier for the waitress to advance?" or "Successful guy, you are doing well, so that is one less citizen to be concerned about, so we won't tax you more, we will leave you alone and figure out what WE CAN DO to help the waitress. We might have to dump a couple congressional aides to come up with money to assist her."

When the only tool you have is a hammer (force), then every problem begins to look like a nail. Obama is an idiot (McCain probably holds the same idiotic views) and sees every problem as a nail, that government force (laws and taxation) can solve.

Not enough happiness? The government will tax someone to make everyone equally unhappy, or pass a law FORCING you to be happy! Problem solved!

Now, mind us all, this is Karl Rove talking. His "one step too far" is actually light leagues too far, but I think we all know this. John McCain had my respect, and he's lost it. He's steeped in a sleaze fest, and I can only hope it will be seen for what it is, much as his choice in picking Sarah Palin at the 11th hour, under duress.

Biz, I'm personally, utterly disgusted by your cartoon, for so many reasons.

Agreed - Republicans often attribute their own actions to the other party and make it look negative. This usually works for Republicans, because Democrats are historically passive-aggressive socialists that take it without fighting back.

I lost all respect for McCain when he voted to legalize torture.

I will have to agree with you here. I know G gets a lot of crap around here for being too extreme, but I always have to give him credit for his posts.

He's the only one here that truly can explain things in such a way that really makes me stop and THINK. I may not alway agree with him, but at least he makes me think!

    Thanks G!

Now, back to the topic at hand here.....
