there was another big site that did this, I can't seem to find it...it was nothing but a huge tag site. I think it got penalized by Google.
yeh, i think its a clever way to market that kind of product If they keep this mini social marketing buzz theyve created then it could do well
Two tags sold LMAO, the idea of clicking a tag to run the hits down is a little mischevious, so basicly you're buying junk clicks/visitors, they're just clicking to run your tag down to 0 points left. If someone launches a tag widget/search cloud in a similar format, about the size of the adsense tower - then that would be better idea.
Copy&Paste FAQ: "...other visitors of this website clicking your Tag will not influence your credit! As long as your Tag shows up, you'll receive free targeted visitors because they clicked a Tag they were actually interested in..." So I think, it is not meant to forward users trying to replace your tag to your website. "Regular" visitors clicking keywords (=targeted visitors) they are interested in do not touch the credit.
Oh OK thanks for pointing that out, however how do they know the hit is from an advertiser or a visitor ? I guess if that member is registered and logged in they can tell - but if not logged in then they can just run the hits down.
I think when becoming a registered user and purchasing a tag, you need to login to click credits down to zero (how should the system know what tag will replace the old one?). Non-registered users are directly forwarded to the websites, not touching the credit at all. So there is some kind of competition between the registered users to get their keywords show up while all other people are clicking because they are interested.
It is interesting, I was thinking a while ago about making a widget - that anyone can use - that has the same tags that can be purchased, make it a tower size with embed code and set up accounts so members can sell links on the cloud for a % of sales made from their sites.
Illegal activity. Click Fraud. Read about it on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Click_fraud The reason it is illegal is because users are clicking on links to web sites with absolutely no intention of caring about the content of the web site itself. Instead, they are clicking the link to 'replace that tag' with their own, thus forcing the web site to shell out advertising costs for fraudulent clicks meanwhile the sheepeffect is raking in profits.
No it's not LoL, that's in reference to Adsense, YPN and similar advertising, it's not click fraud ....
Of course this is no million dollar page. I think the idea is still interesting. Click fraud? Nobody is paying or getting paid when someone clicks. This website is to get visitors to your website for a one time payment. There are two kind of users clicking the tags: tag "owners" who want to replace other tags with their own and "regular" users clicking because they are interested in the tag/keyword. Only the first group can replace tags (ie. decrease the click credit). Of course, this group is not too interested in the target url. The second group are normal visitors not touching the credit of a tag (ie. interested/targeted visitors). As long as a tag is shown, the owner receives targeted visitors. Not so bad. However, they sold ten or so tags since they started (week ago?).
