Hi everyone. I thought that i would test the search wiki for search results, this was about two weeks ago. So today I checked my google webmaster tools top 20 queries and there it shows me that I have Number one position for my main keyword. Now this is weird, I thought google said that this only effects, the searchers own results when logged in. So I logged out of google, searched again and guess what i'm not number one and never was hehe So now it apears to me that google is showing the wiki results in the top queries part of webmaster tools. I guess this could become very confusing and making the guessing game even harder. What do guys think about this?
Can you show a screen of this in your webmaster tools? Of course you should blank your main keyword if it's secret.
It looks like it counts your PRIVATE SERPS. As you see there's a 1% of impressions for your keywords, so it appears that what you see in your webmaster tools are your OWN searches (you said you voted your website as first for your keywords) Interesting... we have a confirmation that google DOES somehow save the information of your OWN VOTED results into their database. Maybe the new digg voting style does have an effect in global SERPs after all?
Yes I did promote my own results for those keywords, and that is why I'm showing in the top 20 queries of the webmaster tools. I'm sure if you go and search the keyword "accommodation western cape" and go to the "See all notes for this SearchWiki" section you should see my site there. I agree that this confirms that Google does put weight on this some how, but to what extend I don't know. I still need to do some extra testing. Anyone else have anything to comment on this please feel free to let me know if you are experiencing the same type of results?
I had the same when i sign into Adwords, if I do a Gogole search for keyphrase, I'm #1, when I log out I'm #3!
The fact of the matter is that google shows your promoted links in the top 20 queries of the webmasters tools. Which is mind boggeling after Google said that this only affects the user that is logged in to the search. So somehow, this counts in away but I'm busy testing some more will let you guys know if there is anything else.
