Hey, everyone...it's about that time again...google is updating their algorithm and should be finished with it over the next following weeks. I just wanted to open this thread to see if anyone has heard of any news or let us know of any changes they have seen on ANY datacenter at this point. Look forward to the feedback!

Google is always updating their algo, although major changes happen only in months.

If you are talking about a major update, may i know what is the source of your information.

Why do I have a feeling that new algo won't do anything good?

Bigdaddy did wonders for my subpages...but when Jagger came a while back, my main site was spanked...hard! Now...I'm starting to see some changes in rankings on the different datacenters for 3 of my major keywords...so I guess I've been doing the right stuff to come back. Plus...I'm sure you've all seen the changes for the #1 spot on Google now (just do a search for "yahoo" or "msn" as an example) and it shows that having that #1 spot is going to be much more important now that it will take up the first few inches of space on the search.

How can you possibly connect an algo update with a change in the way the first result is displayed?

It can be related. One change maybe produced another one...

Can anyone confirm that Google will update their algorithm? Or give me the source.

I do realize that google is updating their algo frequently (weekly if not daily), but they don't update the datacenters as often...that's when the changes seem to go up and down for most.

For the 4th time, a source would be appreciated. Whether they are a paid source or not.

Google had to make alterations on how it handled subdomains - and I believe the fact they now also display more info on the first result, may be part of the changes aimed at preventing sub-domain spam.

However, as my site is relatively new, it is pointless me trying to determine different datacenter information as I am in an eternal state of bouncing likely for a few more weeks, or possibly longer before I can then think about algorithm updates.

Yes...it did...it was jagger that lowered my rankings (analytics showe about 45% of traffic was natural google traffic - after jagger I was lucky to see 10%). I have never done anything (to my knowledge - and I know a decent amount) blackhat (I know because the host I was on at the time was very limited and I couldn't do javascripts or anything like that) or anything, so I still am uncertain what happened. When bigdaddy came though, they were big on original content and fortunately for me I had plenty of that and my subpages made some big jumps (in pr mainly).

My buddy who does seo says that he's been seeing some weird stuff on the different datacenters for his keywords...so there's definitely something going on...for his site and his clients' sites.

Big Daddy still hasn't fixed ANY of Google's problems.

Crap indexing, under efficient crawling, too much spam, serps all over the place.

So I doubt they would be bringing in a new infrastructure until BD is fixed. Unless they're replacing it ;)
