I fully agree with what you said except for the statement regarding the battery. If I may quote myself "Designed to be sleek and appealing but lacks, camera, phone capabilities and removable battery." In my opinion it's not that they want to sell more apps, the fact is, the market is currently flooded with it. Making a new device to accommodate such oversupply makes more sense, Law of supply in demand. At the end of the day it all boils down to business.
Nothing extraordinary from Apple with their Ipad this time. The price look pricey in the US. I bet the price will be much crazier if it's release in my country. - Dynashox -
LOL remember when the iPhones first came out. The price was sometimes $x,xxx or even more for the ones that were cracked first.
This is actually cheaper than the iphone if you think about it. The iphone costs more than $500 without a contract.
It can be a good gadget for a freek but it has many disadvantages like you can't install an application of u'r choice etc....
Its a bigger form of an I-pod Touch, so not much appreciable and innovative. Its ebook reader is the only good thing about it.
The iPad is powerful enough to run a real OS. The fact that it isn't, plus no multitasking, is going to keep me (and probably many people) away.
Who uses flash anymore? And with HTML5, who cares for that matter. Its been a bit bothersome I admit on the iPhone, but the reality is, I usually leave web sites with a lot of flash. Why would you want to remove a battery that lasts 10 hours? Why would you need a camera? Its a bit clunky to use as a camera! What appeals to me is the small footprint and the fact that I it does everything I need it to do now. Let me be more specific. For years I carried a laptop (Power Book) then iBook/Macbook EVERYWHERE!!! Since I've had my iPhone I've not needed to. The laptop has just become a desktop web surfing machine for email and movies. That said, it'd be ideal for me since I use my iPhone more than my home computer. Great for images, movies, email, games for the kid, and of course with the charging stand and keyboard its like an iPhone on crack in terms of size! I think its gonna make a great intermediate media tool around our home and for the on the go stuff, especially presentations. I like the fact I can use bluetooth to stream out my Keynote presentations. Sure beats having to use a clunky PC and Powerpoint. I take it most people here don't use the iPhone, or may have never used any Mac for that matter. The iPhone as an example has freed me from having to have a laptop, a camera, a phone, pen and paper and more! There's nothing I cannot do with it. I can bill customers in person from anywhere. Reboot servers remotely. Answer any question through email, web, video, chat, sms, you name it. It's been an unbelievable time saving tool. I even won an auction on eBay on a Wayne 70 I was looking for for several years. I'd have missed out if not for the ability to close the deal on the winning bid with 2 seconds while traveling at 70mph. I've made sales with it. Paid bills. Found my way. Again, does everything my several devices used to do and its portable. Long battery life. Very reliable, durable. I can easily watch P90X at the Gym, or movies, music.. I could go on for days about all the things I have been able to accomplish with it. It's an invaluable tool. It'll be nice having a larger version of it for those times when a bigger screen is really necessary.
A gadget with a non removable battery is nothing more than a disposable device. Your device's lifespan is basically attached to your battery's, if something goes wrong with your battery you could kiss your precious gadget goodbye. In this case a removable-changeble battery would be more preferable, wouldn't you agree? Camera on an iPad could prove useful for a device that has an internet connectivity. Wouldn't it be more efficient and cost effective to have a built in camera on iPad to snap away need images for a blog or personal use rather than buying an extra camera to serve the purpose? Another useful way to use camera function for iPad is to just basically use it as a webcam, wouldn't an extra webcam attached to an iPad look clunckier than a built in one? And oh, I do have an iPhone 3Gs as well, its packed with essentially functions i needed less the size and missing features, e-reader? hey i could always use my iPhone to browse the web for news and updates so why would i want to have an e-reader (e-reader is just a technology that serves as a platform for launching e-books and "e-materials", e-book is becoming popular...now they created a reader, business if you ask me). I agree that iPhone makes life more easier and I won't trade it for anything...including iPad! I usually go for smaller and portable gadgets so anything bigger than my iPhone is a big no no, special if it doesn't carry features i needed the most.
Nope, I would not agree. I have an iPod Shuffle. The first one that came out. Had it for over 5 years now. Still works. Battery life has not diminished one bit. Bought it January 13, 2005. I've had my iPhone for quite some time now, and same thing. Battery is just fine. I guess if the battery were crap and died in a few months you'd have a valid gripe. The reality is, by the time the battery no longer works, the device would have pretty much outlived itself anyway. I guess what I am saying is, there is no need to replace something that works. I don't use the built in camera on my iBook, my iMac, hell I don't even use the iSite I bought. Neat toy at one time, but really useless unless you like posting a lot of stupid videos to youtube, or do actual video conferencing. Would it be nice to have? Sure. Necessary? Not really. To me the iPad sits in between mobile and desktop. When I am away from a computer with a large screen, the iPhone serves its purpose. When I am in front of that large screen, you don't see me reading/surfing the web with the iPhone. Its mobile, small and convenient. Its just not well suited as the one and only device of choice for everything.
