I've started over 9 sites. Bough the domains and they have all been a total flop. I'm serious. I added them to directories , added content daily (unique) never could make over 2 clicks a day. I put good adsense blened on. I "seod" my site out. I just can't seem to do any good..
I've been "doing" this for about 1 year. I know html , php , vb. I've been posting them on digg and reddit and prweb. But I'm trying to think of a domain to buy. I'm going to dedicate ALL my time to my new blog.. just need to think of a domain related to tech
I like to make 1 or 2 BIG sites, bring in the decent income, then a few smaller niche sits help along the way. "THERE IS NO QUICK BUCK"
You try to hard to promote yourself. Try and get 1 major source of traffic, and that will branch out. Besides, you shouldn't feel like the net hates you....think of it as...it just "strongly dislikes" you. haha jk...
You might want to rethink a tech blog. Unless you have a specific niche, you're going to be up against some mighty big names like Engadget
Perhaps if you concentrated on one or two domains you would be more successful? It's difficult to focus on each site when there are 9 of them (it also seems as if all 9 sites were bought simultaneously). Would it be possible to sell or park a couple of domains and then give just a few a quality focus until you are ready to branch out with more?
Maybe you haven't given it enough time or maybe you have targeted keywords that are a little bit too competitive? What are the topics of your sites?
If its a techblog then you shouldn't try and compete with the big boys by talking about the same products or technologies as them. Find some obscure items, maybe by looking at offline magazines, and review those. Find some niche stories and thats how you will get noticed by the searche engines. Talk about technology in japan, africa, india etc.
I dont think the net hates you... It took me over two years to get to where I am now(not thats its very far). Its not that the net hated me, its just that I was a newbie and didnt do the things I needed to do... I sure wish I could reverse time and do it all again...
if you pick subjects that are really higly competitve or profitable, you will mostly either do very well or fail
from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Manic Depressive Robot: "I've been talking to the computer all day. Main Character: "Really, and what did he say?" Robot: "He HATES me!" [sob] ...and maybe the dolphins and mice really are smarter. Nah!
or since each one only generates 1 or 2 clicks a day, you just need to make like 300-400 of them and you will be all set
