What is the Need for Valid EMail on directory submissions!

i mean as a webmaster, ppl try to put validation links and verbiage to the tune of, all returned mails will result in ur listing being deleted ....and blah blah blah.... have seen a couple of strategies there

But when it comes to be a customer, i tend to give the email which i hardly check, fearing spam!

reading thru posts i learnt u should accept sites based on content... sites with no popups, .... sites with no adult content/ gambling or pharmacy....

wait... where did the "valid email" go!

=> i ask this we dont want spam,.... and unless u have a directory to the tune of entireweb or alike, who send out weekly SEO articles, what is the use of:

    1. asking for a valid email
    2. giving a valid email

perhaps the email field at all....

if ur site is good, i will accept it, ...if it sucks, valid email doesnt count!

AND my competitor will not waste his time to submit my site!

    ALTERNATIVE
i think in relation to directories especially we should adopt the way alexa fetches its info from a file called info.txt!

if i add the link of the site im submitting to, in the file called add_directories.txt, u should take it as a valid submission, else dont bother

this will be more of a authoritative submission, w/o the fear of spam

    please comment

    Hello...

Only need i have for your email is to contact you regarding submissions...

For instance when i got the new catagory dump in biz-giant directory
i imported them All....then deleted All with a message telling them that they
could resubmit again if they wanted again at NO cost...
BUT you of course have those that dont want to leave a good email so
they obviosly couldnt be reached and are now not included and have to pay the fee...

Though i cant blame them... as i get over 300 spam in my inbox daily :(

    thx

an extreme example, ... but a good one!

how about a URL of my contact page, instead of the email,
this again hinders in mass broadcast, ....but would wrk if one has to get in touch with a single person!

    That would be acceptable :)

The only reason i have to contact someone is if theirs been a mistake
in the submission or somthing of that sort... other then that i have absolutly
NO NEED for anyones email as i have no intention of spamming your email box
or selling it like the lowlifes out thier do...

My suggestion is make a email box that you rarely use...
    EX:
and go once daily and check to see if anyone needs to contact ya...

But if i need to get ahold of you i will either by paypal, your site, who is info, or any other way i can....

    thx
