A myth has been spread around the internet and I am here to finally dispel it. The myth being the long held view by many internet marketers that search engines will penalise you for posting the same content in more than one location on the internet, i.e. duplicate content. Further to this, these same people recommend that you should change your content before republishing it elsewhere. There is absolutely no such penalty. If you produce a good article, it may well get republished in several different places. On other blogs and websites, or other article directories. This is a good thing as it means that they will also link back to you, which will improve your websites rankings. If a site was penalised for displaying content that was already published elsewhere, not only would it discourage good content from being produced in the first place, as people often produce good content solely for back link purposes, but it would also be used as a weapon by competing sites to hurt each other. Site A could post articles with links to site B all over the internet in the hope that site B will receive some form of penalty. There is no such thing is duplicate content. Republishing your work over the internet is simply self promotion. I like to compare it to the music industry. A quality song is played on many different radio stations, and is usually left unchanged. This is done to promote the song and gain more fans and customers. It is not duplicate content, it is promotion. The same is true of the internet. When you produce quality content, you republish it in several different locations to reach as wide an audience as possible. There is no reason not to do this. If you work is really good, other people will republish it too, spreading your work even wider. This is an excellent way to gain new traffic to your website. So stop wasting your time changing your content, and spend more time producing great quality content. It will not take long before you see the results. source: http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Myth-of-Duplicate-Content-Penalties&id=3967137 _______________________________________________________________________________ Don't forget to share your opinion about this article..
Yes..you are syndicating the articles. It is not a matter of duplicate content issue. So, I am in tune with you. As of this very moment, there is no such thing as duplicate content which means it is complete fallacy to believe that it exists. When I started with internet marketing few years ago, it was a huge concern for me because I thought it exists. Fortunately, after a heavy research and with some testings, I am confident that it is a myth. So..... DUPLICATE CONTENT IS MYTH Just to share my views..and watch this video too:
Yeah but if you post the same article to 100 different sites, wait a few days or weeks, and then search for that article in google, you'll see many 8 results with the rest listed in the supplemental index. How much link juice do you think those supplemental results are carrying?
OP is spot on with his statement. One has to remember that some good articles get republish all over the internet and if it's natural, search engines will give a lot of weight to the articles even though it's duplicate. Secondly, you get visitors for your website if you publish the article in many places.
The problem occurs when you post the same article at least twice in the same website. If you try to post an article ten times in Ezinearticles without changing a single word, that will definitely incur the wrath of the editors and search engines.
I agree with the metaphor of the songs, finally good content, like good books should be promote everywhere.
As I mentioned before I agree with OP and duplicate content is just a myth. Actually I think duplicate content is good... why? Just think for yourself... you post unique articles and no-one republish them and thus they are not great but if you post one article and it gets spread all over the internet thus search engines will realise that the article must be good and give it much more value. Just my humble opinion.
Pls..at least read the all the posts before any one of you comment. Pls don't share your view if you are unsure about your views. The fact is duplicate content penalty is a myth can be testified by many internet marketers.
I'm glad someone brought this up. Just think... If a duplicate content penalty in the way people think of it existed there would be no indexing for: Lyrics sites Recipe sites New sites (who often quote or republish content) Blog sites that republish articles etc.. etc.. There is an extreme form of the duplicate content penalty which involves making an EXACT clone of another website..but most people think of it as only article content.
Unique is always better. Some of the best link building services only allow unique content. There's no penalty for duplicates, but I've read there a unique "benefit".
