Cool. Neat pic there but I think you should've zoomed in a little more. If you had, you'd have probably caught me on film up there :p

    February 20-21, 2008

The first lunar eclipse of 2008 is perfectly placed for observers throughout most of the Americas as well as western Europe. The eclipse occurs at the Moon's descending node, midway between perigee and apogee. During the eclipse, Saturn lies about 3° northeast of the Moon and shines brightly (mv = +0.2) because it is near opposition.

Looks like Texas will be able to view the eclipse shortly after moon rise. So as long as you have a viewing location with low horizons (not a lot of tall buildings, trees, mountains to get over) you should get some great views. The moon will be low enough in the sky to appear bigger... But if you want some clearer overhead views, you'll have to come visit me the night of the eclipse. ;)

    heck yes!

    cool.

ok professor, moonrise can vary can it not...seems like some days you can see the moon by 5pm others not until 9pm...

I bet the month of the year has something to do with that though!

It's not going to vary a lot from night to night. When it gets closer to the right time of year (a week before maybe), start watching your local paper for exact moonrise times. ;)
