    The air car

After fourteen years of research and development, Guy Negre has developed an engine that could become one of the biggest technological advances of this century. Its application to Compressed Air Technology(CAT) vehicles gives them significant economical and environmental advantages. With the incorporation of bi-energy (compressed air + fuel) the CAT Vehicles have increased their driving range to close to 2000 km with zero pollution in cities and considerably reduced pollution outside urban areas.

it will never catch on, nobody will substitute the revving of an engine for no pollution :)

I'm sure they could combine the air engine and a sound board to generate revving noises and it would still be more efficient and less polluting than a petrol car. ;)

looks alot like those smart cars which will simply NEVER work because they're unsafe and will take you like 45 seconds to get up to 60MPH

I would get one if they manage to make it look cooler. I am all for alternative energy sources that will cut our dependence on fossil fuel.

Most people are idiots when it comes to cars and fossil fuel resources, they would rather drive a Hummer ( an absurdly ostentatious vehicle) and watch the world go to war over resources than deny their inflated ego its needed boost.

I saw a guy filling a Humvee up today as I got gas and what a load he was....his lip was packed with tobacco (DAFT- Damn another fucking Texan) and he was so proud of this behemoth. totally clueless this guy was...really pathetic.

I feel bad for us all....we are so caught up in this idiotic rat race of collecting toys and impressing each other.

    I assume you're an american ?

Smart cars are quite popular in Europe (especially in cities) and are safe, pass crash tests without any problem.

About this car I have my doubts - there is a market niche for it cities that really want to reduce pollution) but I'm not sure if it's greener then a car on oil.
The compressed air needs to come from somewhere -> compress it by a motor on electricity -> electricity creation generates co2
so all it does is move the creation of co2 and not reduce it (and as converting all these types it's probably less optimal then just running the car on electricity or on fuel)

I have to disagree because with a car the power source is limited to non-renewable sources, except in a factory they could be powered by anything like a wind turbine (renewable) :)

yes I'm american... those smart cars simply won't ever work here.... They simply move too slow and I don't know of ANYBODY that stays in a single city for all that long. In alot of european countries there are more people who simply stay within a small area.

Personally I range seriously over 200 miles 1 way frequently on an insane amount of days. I drive an 07 Honda Civic Hybrid and during the cold months get 40MPG and the hot ones I average close to 50MPG. I put over 10k miles on my car the past 2.5 MONTHS! Due to my high driving habits I do what I can to save MONEY on gas. And something like an insight or those upcoming 2 seat hybrids aren't an option for me since I frequently drive alot of miles with 3-4 people in the car.

YES I love the roar of a V8 and it does make my penis feel bigger... which is why I have a loud gas guzzling v8 powered '68 mustang in the garage.
