The magic hoplink

Ok , funny situation. I started promoting a new product yesterday , wrote a single article for articlesbase and placed my clocked hoplink in it. This is the only place this hoplink is. Now the weird thing is my article got about 5 views but the hop count has reached 18 and rising:D. The article ranks 4th for a good keyword and I'm thinking that it gets good views but articlebase is slow on updating view status. Has this ever happend to any of you or have I stumbled across a magic hoplink that clicks itself?:p

I use the cloacking tool in wealthy affiliate and I see the same problem. Anyone have any Idea what it is?

I'm pretty sure clickbank counts your own visits to the hoplink, so that might factor into the 5 views vs 18 hops issue. I thought I was doing awesome when I first started out because of that.

edit: Also, Articlesbase has terrible reporting. I was getting 15k views/month, then it just completely cut off to 0 views/month in the middle of January. I wouldn't trust their numbers--even their total views and monthly views conflict. I also notice that AB has a bad CTR compared to other sites, like Hubpages and Ezinearticles. Hubpages has the best CTR of any site that I've used so far.

I know they count my own visits and this is why I don't click my hoplink unless I want to test something. Anyway thanks everyone for your answers , the mysterious clicking process seems to have stopped.

Hi guys, This is the reason: There are bots which automatically crawl websites for content. When you publish an article on article directories, these bots come crawling. There go from link to link, and sadly enough, they count as hops. This happens to me all the time.
