Touche'. I've got several problems with it, but my limited understanding of this Act is that it's a temporary wartime measure (you know, we were attacked & everything). In that context, I see and accept its value.

Oh my... how uninformed the majority of us are.
What's that creeping up out of the shadows behind the American public? It starts with an F and ends with an ascism....

    Thanks for your comments, Crazy.

When you say that 'the majority of the US population supports (stem cell research)' you are implying that there is hard empirical data that:

    1. There was a baseline poll constructed and executed by unbiased pollsters who neither affected the actual questions nor the intonation of the questions as they were asked
    2. This poll was executed over a large enough pool of respondents to gauge a true and accurate count of how people stand all aspects of the issue.
    3. A large enough percentage of those polled understood the issue fully enough to hear the questions objectively

I've been involved in several large polls, and it is so easy to push the results that it's almost comical. I'd like to see the data that you're talking about. Who ran the poll?

No, actually I had to go to the bathroom. Okay?

Actually I think I already stated "I've got several problems with it" and that my understanding of it is "limited."

I appreciate you finding that info. It is unsettling. However, and I know you don't want to hear this, but we haven't been attacked in 5 years on our on soil.

If you're an expert on the Patriot Act, and exactly how it is unconstitutional , I would sure like to see these things delineated succinctly.
I'm not being sarcastic, I really would like to know.

Rob, I see you have been washed in the head by the media. There was NO ban on stem cell research, there was not even a proposal to ban stem cell research, please stop reading the LA Times.

    That's horrible rationalizing.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.-Ben Franklin

Exactly how often do you think we were being attacked before 9/11? Try to remember that the orignial WTC bombings were sponsored and planned by the FBI.

I'm no expert on the patriot act, but we can start with the sneak and peak unconstitutional warrants. Or with this:

Federal judge rules part of Patriot Act unconstitutional

    Why am I not surprised?

I've explained it before and I guess I'll have to again, since you were so uninformed on the patriot act, here you go:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Trade_Center_bombing#Alleged_FBI_foreknowledge

The FBI had an informant for a year knowing about the plot. They made the bomb and gave it to the terrorists! Then they paid the informant $1 million to testify against his co-conspirators.

And I'm wearing tin foil.
