The Liberal Abuse...

I sat here wondering today what it must feel like to be a liberal...

Always getting used by the Democrat party to advance nothing more than the Dems power structure...

The ideals of a true liberal, as a sane person knows, are completely out of touch with reality and do NOT align with the democrat party manifesto.

Yet, they feel compelled to vote for a party which just takes their votes and gives them nothing in return. Is this because their true ideology is un-electable? (Greens)

We all know that if Dems are elected you will NOT get:

    Solar Cars
    Free Health Care
    Disarming of America
    Gun Ban
USA to join the World Court
    USA to stop supporting Israel
USA to stop the war on terror (Completely)
USA to open its borders to mexico
USA to turn the 4th of july into world peace day
    etc etc etc

So why vote for them? Is it because 10 or so dems DO have these ideals? I mean, what gives?

It's the same thing as poor people voting for conservative republicans.

They vote for them based on their "moral values" and religious views. But in the end, they're just helping CEO's and people with money to get MORE MONEY.

These politicians end up doing sbsolutely nothing for the people that voted for them (like Henny said). (Left and right)

I just think it's funny to see so many people wrapped up in politics when it's clearly a waste of time.

    People are whacked!

Conservatives and Republicans are two different things. Conservative happen to be the base of the Republican party, because they're closest to a conservative view....definitely not the ideal, though.

It's common now-a-days to find a lot of Rockfeller Republicans (ie liberal republicans), since immigration has distorted reason in the political sector. Republicans are now the old democrats in ways, and the liberals are merging into the murking abyss of socialism. Obvious there still some sane people on both sides, but they're get marginalized as time goes by.

This I believe, is the best definition of what a real conservative is:

    'Pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and pro-America.'

*There are many moderate REPUBLICANS that don't really fit the conservative bill.

**Personally, I view most of that as positive.

The only poor that vote republican are the ones with aspirations and do not want the binding of liberalistic ties.

News to me. And bad news for democrats. That's the only segment they have been able to count on for votes. Guess we won't have to worry about dems in office anymore :D

Similar to Liberals and Democrats; here is the definition of Liberalism:

    From wikipedia...

The American Democrats /= liberals, but they have some liberal tendencies.

Modern liberals took a philosophy (ie classical liberalism) and pissed on it. It's not like America changed because of reason, it changed because of immigranting people here that believed in east european politics. Todays representation of modern liberalism is just an attempt to put together a cohesive political philosophy that just isn't. It's an attempt that's mirrored by the right to just influence a person to vote their side just because the other side is missing in one area or the other.

So why are the conservatives still supporting bush? :p

Other than the pro-god and pro-life crap, I pretty much agree with all of that. Unless pro-defense means terrorizing the world ;)

Lesser of two evils...my buddy is a fairly good representive of the common conservative. He doesn't like Bush or the Republican party, but he knows the liberals are just not an option ie he thinks he can't morally allow them to gain power. He's catholic (but he wouldn't bother you...he just ask the same from you), he's mildly pro-life (but that's not a huge issue to him), and he's the most pragamatic and sane moral person I know....but at the same time his feeling do get the best of him...every once and while. He would not like you, but he would treat you nicely. That's the common conservative in my mind...best kind of people in my opinion.

Frankly the conservatives would make their own party if they thought it was viable.

As for the pro-defense....well, that's a ranging view. Even I feel some conservatives go to far, and I actually think to some level an even split among dems and repubs does some good. I'd rather they not legislate than to make bad shit up along the way. You can't take back bad legislation when it comes to war....unfortunately the dem politicians of current are not really principled.

Why yes I do. I've used it several times a day since reading that Black Hat SEO thread. But that's not important right now.

To get this thread back on track, I'd like to say that it's possible to be both liberal and sane......in theory.

I just don't understand why people on the left side of the voting booth want the government to tell them what they can and can't do.

For God's sake, we've got plenty of statutes and regs to go around. Enough government intrusion already!

Or the ban on stem-cell research (even though the majority of the US population supports it).

I'm just glad that today's conservatives are conservative.
