    If you've read any of my previous posts on the topic of directories and traffic, you obviously didn't read them very carefully.

    I'm not slamming advertising for traffic. I'm saying that unless you are Yahoo! or possibly DMOZ, "advertising" on the general directories discusszed here at DP isn't going to bring you any traffic except from other directory owners and webmasters checking out the competition.

    Average people use search engines, not directories. The exception is possibly Yahoo! and very specialized niche directories like Psychology Today's Find a Therpist service.

    And none of this has anything to do with "Monster.com, Godaddy.com, e-Trade.com". That was a totally irrelevant comment.
