The 'juciest' part of the page

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if someone could advise.

A friend has offered to put a link to my website, from her site.

She isn't really bothered about SEO and link juice and all that... so she doesn't care where the link goes.

I do care, however... as I know that there are some places that are more 'vlauable' than others for link juice.

Where do I get her to put the link so thatI get maximum benefit.

She doesn't have a link page, nor a blog roll... so would from a post be the best place for link juice?

    Thanks.

First of all, check if your friend's site relevant to your site? And you said your friend also placed her link to your site, does both the sites have same content?

If yes, than it is good for link juice and for ranking point of view. BUT if the content is not similar, I would never place any external link to my site.

Link Placement: The best link placement is between the content of your site (content within body/paragraphs). You can add link within the content BUT with a similar anchor text.

For example: If the link is about website design company, it should be placed within the content should relevant to website design, tips or services.

    Hope this would help.

I agree with him except for one thing. That I would put a link from a non relevant site. They won't hurt your rankings unless its from a link farm or such.

By relevant links, I meant those links to be taken in a broader sense.

    1. Visitor point of view: Think for yourself, a visitor browsing a site that is selling birthday gifts; and there they find a link of a car selling website...I mean, does this make any sense or relevance? Absolutely not. That's why, placing links is not at all the game, but making things natural and relevant for your visitors is the main purpose of placing links on your site.

    2. Google point of view: Also, Google does not give any weight to such sites which have irrelevant links. If you want more info on this, visit Matt Cutt's blog.

You are right that irrelevant links would not hurt your site BUT it also would not benefit your site either.
