I was researching the job market for copywriters (ie. copywriting jobs) a few months ago (april-may) as it was directly related to a site i started, and was surprised about the number of jobs available, and the demand rising from the months before like jan-feb. Especially for internet copywriting and those with knowledge of SEO. Which i think is great for those working in the field. Have you noticed an increase in demand? What are your thoughts on current job market for copywriters and future growth? james
Increase in demand? YES! Increase in salaries? NO! Stagnation?- NO! Increase in no. of copywriters- YES! I know whatever I have written is nothing conclusive, but it can give you a deeper insight into what the market is heading towards. Just my opinion though- others might have other opinions Regards Jeewant
Hi 500 You say there are so many jobs out there for copywriters? Where are all these jobs? I'm a copywriter and I'm damn good and I'm battling to find work. And when I do get jobs they want to pay $30! And for $30 they want like 5 rewrites and extras. And when you ask for your money, they say can't you just do this or that extra and then I'll pay you. So there might be some jobs out there (?) but no one wants to pay you a decent rate. As usual, everyone wants everything for nothing. Disillusioned copywriter.
Having looked to see if people are hiring in-house copywriters (I need a steady wage at the moment), I've noticed that there's a huge market for Medical copywriters. Might be time to consider a science degree.
Copywriting market is a mess - unless you are well established... You got to get your name out there, which isn't easy... Non-native English ¨copywriters¨ have killed the market for the time being... most writing now is slave labor... ironic really as when people were slaves they complained about it, yet happily write for 2 or 3 dollars an hour...
I think there's a huge supply for content writing on the Internet right no because so many people are delving into starting their own websites and online businesses, in part because of the economy zapping all of the more traditional jobs in the marketplace.
@jeewant, thanks for the insight jeewant @AceWriter, i'm sure it's not easy to land a job, i would imagine it's quite competitive, what places have you been looking for work? i will gather info for july, and post a link to all the jobs i found. @succeedemail yes it would make sense, so many people are starting an online businesses\magazines, and they have to be filled with content, which suggest demand for content writers\copywriters
I've seen a constant increase in jobs, increase in general pay, and frankly less qualified competition out there. On the lower ends of the spectrum where people will write for a penny per word, I imagine it's very different.
As a person who hires out copywriting jobs I have definitely began paying more for a few things: -Consistency -Service -Quality of Product Now, I usually have about 30-50 articles being written a day. Some are meant simply for SEO purposes, so I will pay on the lower scale. However, I always have a big job where I need someone who knows what they are doing. I have come to absolutely love the dozen or so professional copywriters who provide the work on time, and it works. If you can write good copy, you will always find someone who will pay you. However, make sure you put customer service first as well, because there are hundreds of people just as good, if not better who would love a shot.
Copywriting and content writing has been constantly growing especially since the rise of SEO and the latest developments in the worldwide web. This has also opened doors for more aspiring copywriters. I started writing freelance content and enjoyed the experience which helped me land a full-time SEO job.
I second Jenn. I'm seeing a steady rise in business and many more successful clients no longer willing to settle for anything less than material that works. They don't want to waste money trying out writers - they seem to be going straight to what they know will convert. Also, it helps that many markets online are doing extremely well thanks to the recession. More money spent on online "deals" by budget savvy shoppers = more webmasters with resources looking to expand and build a larger online presence = more demand for quality material.
Yes. Once you get your foot in the door, it is quite easy to get continued jobs. You can try posting your services on your craigslist or on this forum.
There are quite a few jobs out there but there are many non English native writers who will snatch them up for pennies. As adrian888 said once you get your foot in the door the provider will likely continue supplying you with work on a regular basis.
I've got to agree with what many others have said in this thread. The job market is expanding, but the amount of quality writers is not. In fact, as more jobs become available, we are seeing more and more "penny writers" emerge. Eventually, I hope that the market will pan out, and those poor quality writers will move on to other things. It's really a waste of everyone's time for buyers to have to weed through all the competition when in fact, it doesn't exist in terms of quality. Perhaps, buyers should consider what their definition of "quality" is before requesting writers of such caliber.
Though there is a big competition in the writers market, you still can beat a number of writers by offering high quality service.
I am a copywriter myself and believe in the following: a.Hard Work b. Consistency c. Honestly d. Decent rates e. Punctuality. The above have earned me a might reputation and I ma doing well despite the competition..! Anil
yes definitely the copy writing will increase because the websites are increasing and moreover people are getting aware of many new issues which would boost up the copy writing to a new level.
