How many directory owners have invisible guidlines

i just had 73 sites waiting approval at my directory

55 where rejected for not following the guidlines for submitting websites

28 of them where other directories.

I don't have invisible guidelines, but like you, sometimes it would seem that way. ;)

LOL balkanboy. Yah, auto-submission apps are going to submit no matter what until you install a captcha or some kind of anti-spamming device.

Well sometimes descriptions seem spammy and you will get rejected. Try changing your description and submitting to those directories again, I am sure you will get accepted.
    Just my 2 cents

i`m not being rejected i`m doing the rejecting and its nothing to do with the description its simple things

subdomains and deeplinks must be paid only

    site titles minimum 3 words

these are the 2 most ignored guidlines

or maybe the directory owner doesn't like your website, or it didn't meet upto their standards... alot of directories don't like adult links and deep links ... It is really upto the directory owners to accept... and they do what they think will make their directory looks good in their eyes ...

i know its hard to accept, but thats reality man.

I put guidelines on all my free directories, but on paid directories i think the owner must be sensible enough to spend the money for a quality site :)

Yep most directories do not allow deep links and subdomains, They usually charge for you to put it although their are deep link directories out their for that. I own about 6-10 directories, I lost count lol, and I look at everything Title, URL, Description, and if i like the site or not, I also do not accept sites that seem too adult or sometimes adult at all. It also might be the state of mind that the directory owner is in at the time of approvals. If I am having a bad day and I come to adding sites, I am really picky lol. But i follow the idea of if you get rejected once, just submit again. Its like picking up women, you will get rejected but if you keep trying a girl will eventually get with you, this does not include nintendo :D but lets not discuss that here lol. I hope my lil paragraph describes a bit to you.

I'm new to directory ownership, but I noticed that the main guideline that gets ignored for my directory is payment.

I'm charging $1, to check the site before including it. So far the vast majority check the radio buton with $1 next to it, submit thier site and don't pay.

    If this common?

That actually happens to me a lot with featured links, I simply just delete them so because they tried to cheat the system they will have to pay the price of rejection.

I thought my site was unusual, one of a few using an invisible submit page or at least invisible guild lines.

I stopped accepting paid directories because I was sick of being unable to submit my site for free.
I made it clear that paid directories had to link back but because of 20-50 submission per day breaking this rule I don’t accept any directories paid or unpaid without a link back.

What gets me is it’s the first thing I check for, so why do people waste time trying.
Inbound links make all of our sites better and the better the directory submitted to the better the benefit.
Surely it makes sense to follow the rules as we all have a greater chance of having our submission accepted.

I am going to launch some directories and have been studying all that you experienced guys have been saying. Of the popular directory scripts, which would you say does the best job of managing spam submissions?

I only accept PR0 sites with a fee of $1 or a reciprocal link. This is what makes me deny more than 50% of the submissions. even those that put a reciprocal link.. 50% of them are not accepted since the link is on a page with more than 30 links and usually not linked from the main page. Also don't accept sites what have too short description and title. and don't accept deep links.

This is what makes my reviewing life much easier, out of 100 submissions/day I only accept about 20 - 30.

I have 1200 pending links at IWD, i will review 600 sites today, i bet 500 of them didn't follow guidelines and will be removed, 50 of them followed guidelines but i will need to change the category they submitted to or the title, 50 of them followed perfectly guidelines and keep their keywords in title intact.

Nobody reads guidelines, now directory owners thinks they need submissions and submitters doesn't care about what they are doing. Personally i don't need submitters T_T, i can add sites on my own faster and with higher quality.

I agree, I would be happy to only have a few quality submissions a day as opposed to 100s most rubbish.
I’m sure most submitters think directory owner don’t check!
