The infamous "Invalid Clicks"

By now everyone has heard of the infamous, "Invalid Clicks" that has become what I like to call it, "The Silent Beast".

It has taken away hundreds of thousands of dollars from unsuspected adsense members and closed their accounts for good. It would take a miracle to get it back again.

Well for those who still have an adsense account here's a way to put a stop to this beast for good. Use Firefox's "NoScript". You can download it from Firefox. Since adsense uses javascript, noscript gives you the option to on/off javascipt.

    Have fun,

Tools, Options, Uncheck "Enable Javascript". You don't need to download anything to make this work either.

Why not turn off javascript in your browser yourself? What do you need a script for? I have javascript turned off in IE and I use IE to update my pages so the ads don't load. When I want to see what ads are displayed I view my site in Firefox.

noscript uses a whitelist, so the sites you want to run javascript can still work

waaaaaaaaaait a second. you mean that if you load your page a few times a day it will count like clicking on your own ads and you can get banned for that?!?!?

Thats how most of the 'invalid clicks' are produced according to a few programmers I know. And I've read the same thing in other webmaster forums as well.

I think I read it here too someplace.

Invalid clicks means clicking on your own ads or coercing others to click on your ads. Simply reloading your page when updating doesn't result in clicks on your ads. Google is aware that people update their pages as much as several times a day and that they may reload their pages multiple times. I have reloaded my pages up to 30-50 times a day when I update. CPM ads pay per 1000 impressions. If you reload your page more than 1000 times a day then you might have a problem. :D

Whatever tickles your fancy. There's no wrong or right answer because we all are just suspecting without jusitfication. And I'll stick to my programmers and play it safe.

Thank you all for coming. I need to be more productive in other areas so take care and click on!

As Napolean would say, "It's not those spies that worries me ... its the changing of story that they go back and tell". lol

Invalid clicks means exactly that: clicks on ads that are not legitimate clicks from your visitors. I don't see how refereshing or reloading your page can lead to invalid clicks if an ad is not clicked in the process. So we are right... and we are right. :D

instead of going thru all that trouble of disabling java, downloading scripts, and whatever, why not just try NOT CLICKING YOUR ADS?

I dont think any publisher has been banned for an occasional accidental click.. as a matter of fact, i've read of many publishers that have accidentally clicked ONE or TWO times over the years, with no problems. anything more than ONE or TWO accidental clicks per year, and you should not be using a computer.

If you click on your own ads that will be considered invalid click, and you won't be payed for that. That's all, they won't ban you saying that "we take care or the advertisers" because google don't pays invalid clicks, it's logic, they recognize that you missclicked once twice.. but don't try 10clicks a month, I think thats way too much...
