The inevitable downfall of viral content with regards to marketing

As everyone already knows viral content are the number one source of making money through PPC right now. You can look at sites like VoralNova (and I personally think that those kind of websites are the lowest of the low since they provide absolutely nothing of value)

But since they seem to be doing so well it means that their content are still demanded by the masses.
If you have a facebook account I'm sure your newsfeed looks similar to mine and is filled with 30-second viral videos.

However I don't think this trend will last for very long. If all websites (along with their social media) are posting the EXACT SAME viral content then their customer base will get diluted with people that only 'like' them for their viral posts meaning that their fan base is getting less and less targeted with every viral post they make. And once this viral trend is over (I give it a maximum of 3-5 more years) Then their brands will suffer from the untargeted audience that they've accumulated and the brands that will be doing well are the ones that have been organically growing their fanbase through valuable content.

For example I'm sure you've all seen those facebook accounts with millions of fans getting thousands of engagement within minutes of posting a viral content, however when they post a link to their site they literally only get a couple of engagements. I've seen dozens of these extreme cases and I think their brand is a ticking time-bomb.

Now compare this to those brands that only have about 10k likes, yet they get hundreds of engagement per post since their fans have been organically grown and are highly targeted.

What are you general views on viral content, and do you think that it's possible to mix them with valuable content.
