'The' in website URL

I am wondering. Is the use of the word 'the' in a URL a good or a bad idea?

Let's say I am making a forum about food, but www[dot]foodforum[dot]com is not available. www[dot]thefoodforum[dot]com is available. Is it a good idea to take that URL, or would it be better to come up with a new name?

    Thanks!

You can use "the" or add "now" at the end or something like that. Just dont make it too long.

See the movie "The Social Network". The advice is to skip the leading "the" :D

It is no problem if you use the word "the" in your URL.
But, it will much better you use relevant niche(s) in your URL, and the word "the" is not a great niche at all.

You can also use something unique in your URL.... yahoo is unique.... google is unique.... bing is unique.... there are so many possibilities! Such as foodley, foodyzt, digitalcomma, digitalquote, analogpoint, etc ;)

when I search the word "money" on Google... guess what, who's the #1.... not money[.]com.... what's that suppose to mean?! It's mean we don't have to worry if someone take our niches earlier than we do.... your niches/keywords shouldn't control over you, but you should control over them. MAKE YOUR BRAND NEW NICHE! Good luck!

Absolutely right! You should go for "exact match keyword domains" with high searches. It will give you more advantage with your competitors and it will be easy to rank for you in search engines. If you need one, just give me a message.

There is nothing wrong with the word "the" as long as your domain name is easy to remember.
