I know have The in a domain name may not be the best, but is it really that bad?

For example is TheCupcakeBlog.com really all that bad?

    How will it affect me?

It's not really bad, but not exactly great either. I guess some websites have pulled it off, like TheSmokingGun.

I personally don't like it. I think you could get more creative, like CupcakePro.com or CupcakeWorld.com. These would be more memorable I think.

Not bad idea from one side, but at another side that will make domain names longer.

    I guess it's a matter of preference.
If it sounds good to you, it may leave an impression with your clients/visitors, then go ahead.

You can use it. Around 60% people comes from search engine...So what is the problem if the domain name is big or hyphen, etc.

I have another question, what would be better TheCupcakeBlog.com or CupcakeBlog.net?

ehh, not so sure about that. I don't like .net - they're only good to register if you want to protect your .com from someone else getting the .net. I've found them to be difficult to brand, because the .com owner will always have that edge over you.

In my view if some one need abc.com, if it is not available people would think for theabc.com, I think it is not bad.

If you like it then thats what counts. What is more important is trying to brand it. By the way Facebook used to be called thefacebook.com.

    Good luck wiht it.

I had review many domain names with "the", most of the time I don't think "the" is not necessary .
