The importance of RSS feed?

    Is it important to convert into RSS feed all of your submission links? How RSS feed helps in link building? Thanks! :)

    RSS feeds can help with link building as there are various rss submission sites to which you can submit your rss feed link and thus generate backlinks from those rss directories.

    RSS feeds are used all over the internet these days. Blogs come with them pre-configured for you. Browsers are beginning to integrate RSS Readers directly into their functionality. If you’re using IE7, you can see an icon on the toolbar menu.

    If this icon is orange, click it to see the RSS feed on the page you are currently viewing. If it is grey, there is no feed on the current page. For firefox users, there are plugins you can download to mimic this feature. My favorite is Sage, although it is not as nice as the IE integration. You can also subscribe to feeds using these feed readers. But what is an RSS Feed and an RSS Reader?

    RSS feed was started with the purpose of distributing news related headlines. The use for RSS is significantly larger. It is very helpful in Job Openings, Auction Items, Product Sales or Specials, News & Announcements, Law Enforcement, RSS in the Government. One published post reaches quickly to all community members.

    Not that great for SEO purposes. Most people now just use them to index profiles.

    It can be used in many ways. RSS was not started for any link building purpose. But it can be used in such task.

    Have to disagree on that.

    I always create a fresh RSS feed of my sites whenever I add new content and then ping them.
    Depending on the site, the new content gets indexed in hours/day or two.

    Properly used, RSS feeds are an importnat part of SEO - site promotion.

    ... and of course it's not only blogs that can use RSS feeds. All my HTML sites use them .... just another part of the SEO toolkit.
