The importance of laying low.

Hey, maybe this is stupid. But I have noticed it to be true for a website I work on.

When I lay low and do not update any links to other sites for a few weeks to a month, I seem to have more links when I bust out the link:example.com, there seems to be a lot more links than when I post everyday. Is this just my imagination, or is there something to be said about laying low and let Google find the links out there and update everything.

    Thanks for any advice.

That could be Timehacker. The only thing is that I have tried this a few times (over a couple months), and it seemed to follow what my post said. I dunno.

I don't see why this would make a difference. I have noticed that if you update pages TOO frequently, it can have a negative effect in the SERP's. But backlinks are a seperate issue.
