The importance of clicking "Publish" irregardless

    Procrastination and Fear

They stop us from achieving and melt our brains from over thinking

I'm a big believer that those who achieve great things either:
    • Were too busy to worry about it
    • have massive cohones
    Seriously
    Whats the worst that happens?
I'm writing this on the fly, based on a number of thoughts I have had and experiences recently
    Almost like a "living journal"

I created an article recently for our website
its a 10,000+ word beast with interactive video and calculators for seeing if digital marketing is worthwhile for your business
You can track the roi before, after, analyse the market etc etc
I'm not going to link to it here
I'm a new user and I don't want to burn bridges
You'll see it at some point in my signature or something, I have no doubt

We create content daily for client, with no issue and its widely received
I can do a few articles a day if the mood takes me, and the coffee flows free

    Our own article?
Took me 3 weeks to write
We had issues with software, coding, versions of the site copying and pasting over
We released the article to the site dying-60 sec load times, and the theme overlaid itself 3 times...

It really got to the point where i was wondering if it was worth it to release it or not!

I went to go see a band last night
I don't know about you, but I spend a heap of time in my business. I enjoy it, and so I rarely do venture out
"If I go out then i cant achieve all the work I want to do for my business tomorrow" etc etc

I saw a dutch blues band playing in a tiny venue in New Zealand...
    and i'm not a hipster

    This venue really lucked out
This band had a huge following back home, and after about 40 seconds of hearing them start acoustically I could tell why

    But the venue was tiny
The staff working were all drunk and actually causing more issues than any paying customer
The sound levels were all over the place
You could see the frustration on the bands face
    1000s of miles
to play in a venue with 15 paying customers
    poor sound system etc
It wasnt until the band stopped for 30 minutes to sort all the issues and get the drunken sound check guy to come over and actually help that everything was resolved

80% of the people left during this time

These guys should have walked off in fairness
    But the thing is
Even with the poor sound, these guys rocked
    We had an awesome time

If they had left or stopped, for fear of a lower quality performance-all that would have happened is that we wouldnt know anything more about them

They were so good, even with all the mishaps and poor sound, they rocked
(I even bought the CD-who does that anymore!?)

And you know what, when they finally got the sound sorted, they played for another hour for 5 people

And they were god damn amazing

Its more important that you get your message out there
Even if its garbled, messed up or the imagery isn't spot on

"You miss every shot that you don't take"

So we hit publish on our article
And in the last few days we fixed the links, sorted the site speed (now 1.7 secs :D) and created better imagery

    Don't worry
If you can feel the fear its a sign your doing something right

Now I know this is a Digital Marketing forum

Often the more vocal clientele resemble the customers at 'Mos Eisley'
And so I put my feelings at risk and fight against the fears

Most will still be creating content
Others need to hit go on that domain purchase or letting it go live

What do you have to fear?

I'm probably going to be called out by douchebags for this post
But i'll probably help a much larger, much quieter group of people at the same time

    Click publish people!
