Hi, I would like to have the opinion of this forum regarding the need to have in my web page a 'bookmark this page' button. Sometime, people say that it is useless as that button already exists in the browser and therefore, having it again in the page makes it redundant. However, the fact that there is a visible button, couldn't it be kind of convincing to bookmark the page? Thanks for your feed-back.
There is a "call to action" by having a bookmark link/ button but inevitably also cross browser compatibility issues. In this day and age what more people consider of interest are the social bookmarking tools more than browser bookmarks
I'd put it on, there is no harm in it. I don't know about cross browser issues on it though, probably look into it more when I redesgin my site.
Most of the time I go to the same sites and i go to them from my bookmarks. I never put it on my sites, i Just assumed people knew how to bookmark the site if they wanted to. Guess I think it looks to 1999-ish in terms of the internet, just my opinion.
It's not for people who don't know how to bookmark as much as it is to remind people or try and persuade them into bookmarking the site.
