Hi all, I would love to hear what you think the importance of a domain name is in terms of SEO. Because so many have been taken and are just being sat on by people wanting to sell them, I am considering a pretty long domain but calling my new site something else. Thanks!
yeah.domain name somewhat helps a lot in SEO we work on seo and generally we have long names for domain adding sub domains.the keywords to help us out to search in google or other engine easily
So do you suggest using a keyword for the domain name, but once they land on my site I can pretty much name if what ever I like??
i suggest a short name for your domain. You can also use _ between your words. Many people consider this very explicit in the search results
Domain name is one of 200 factors search engines will consider in order to rank a page for a particular set of keywords. I think it is pretty high on the pecking order too. If your domain name contains a particular keyword, chances are that you will rank for that key phrases with out doing much else to promote it.
I don't think it hurts to buy a few domains if its within your budget. The keywords in the longer one(s) can still be picked up and the shorter one(s) can be used for easy accessibility.
I have a question. I need a domain for a company whose business is we will say Los Angeles Doctors, but that .com is already taken. Would you buy the .net, .co, .org and use that as the domain or would that be too close to the .com?
I'm agree that domain name and its longness has a wide influence on ranking. It's really on of the numerous factors in SEO.
Because having the keyword in your domain name is liked a lot by google. Having several domains with keywords in them mirror to your site will be useless, because google wont rank the mirror, right? If that is the case, what about getting some domains with the keywords you want to rank for and then putting a blog or just an article on it, and a link to your money site. Making it a super relevant one way link to your money site. That would help a lot in ranking, wouldn't it?
