For the first time Namecake.com has had an outside writer talk about their views for the future of domaining. The article is titled: are you ready for the implosion of domaining. The writer is Seabass from Namepros, who is one of the most experienced and successful domainers out there. It's not a happy read but i do think it's important. Article can be found at: http://www.namecake.com/are-you-rea...of-domaining-guest-essay-seabass-of-namepros/
I've stopped collecting and stopped renewing - especially on non-coms. My portfolio will be down by half this year.
Personally I've just dropped 28 domains in the past week. Like tobycoke, I'm getting rid of most non-.com's, especially .us's and many .net's. The article makes a lot of sense on every point about parking programs going under very soon. Doesn't really bother me as I make like $10/mo parking over 200 domains. Now is definitely the time to be selective and drop the stuff you think is worthless, going nowhere, or just a long term liability. Anyone who is in domaining and ONLY domaining was digging their own grave anyway.
Recently i've seen an uptick in the number of names i'm selling, but i don't expect it to last. Like Seabass i expect things to get nasty over the next 6 months - people are expecting a summer of discontent over here in the UK.
