The impact of a Y directory listing on Y serps

    Our site www.homeless.org.au recently scored a free listing in the Yahoo directory using the anchor text 'Homeless' ... sweet.

    You would think this would bump us up the line in the Yahoo serps for a search on 'Homeless' ... nup, still #6.

    I think for sites they do include in their directory they should leave it up to the site to dictate their own title and description for yahoo search results instead of pulling it from the directory listing.

    So if you are wishing for the perfect anchor text in your yahoo directory listing with the hope that it will boost your search results in yahoo, think again. In your directory submission go for a timeless, descriptive and enticing title for users / not a keyword laden title to impact on yahoo search cause it don't work.
