Yes, image hosting business is over saturated, but you can still make money there with good advertisement. Also, as far as I know, CPM advertisement tends to work better on those sites, because the visitors don't click much, but only look on the image.
what CPM ads to use in imagehosting site cause adsense is not going to work well...any CPM ads other than Adbrite??

The best way to kick start an image hosting site is by uploading adult images and posting them at popular, high-trafficed adult forums (yes, some people/hosts may consider it unethical/unallowed, but it really does bring some nice amount of traffic). Another way is by uploading and posting interesting celebrity pictures, which tend to be a lot of popular around the internet. And the best tip, always find a way to mention your site in a related discussion. I know that this is not much, but considering AdBrite is not so good as it comes to high earnings and high CTR and I can not use AdSense since I am banned. Multiply this and let each of the sites grow and you will see the potential...
I working on quite a few things at the moment, but have always been interested in an image site, so will look into it further when i get time. How profitable is it really though ? - for example how many uniques do you need to get a day to make $1/day.

Its probably good to know a bit about code, becuase your sites where vulnerable and have been hacked and defaced.
till now i think yabsoft has better script for imagehosting you can see my image hosting site at imagesfox.com the template is little bit different cause i make some change i hasn't fully optimize the site cause i`m still using share host, cause i`m afraid if i optimize the script the host will suspended my site lol
When I had a image hosting site I use only google ads and as for seo I commented on webmaster forums.
