Speaking of the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. What does it do, anyway?! Perhaps it's my fear of casino pop ups, but i've never clicked on it...
It just pulls up the site that is listed first for your search. So if you are number one for something and they search that clicking I'm feeling lucky they will go directly to your site.
never used it, but I noticed big big changes in being first or second on search terms, so perhaps people do use it?
Havent been able to find any information out there.. I am also trying to find stats on what ratio of visitors click the different results from 1 to 10 (or 20)
I'd be amazed if you found out stats about the "I'm feeling lucky button"... Also, the sites in the serps that are clicked on are not clicked on because of the number of the position only. The Title tag used, the way the description looks, how targeted the page is to the search query can all have fairly big repercussions in terms of what result gets clicked on
I know there are alot of factors involved, but I guessed there must be some kind of generic stat... all things being equal, I'm sure it must matter on the 'big' search terms
Well, regardless on the AMOUNT it is used, it still is used. This is why number one is important, because this is another avenue people can get to your site. The number two site may be better, but some average joe may be clicking on I'm Feeling Lucky all the time because he likes that method better than sifting through the SERPS.
