Ok so the thread is about a cartoon, Death Note. The cartoon is basically about religion and politics...and its an intense suspense story that leaves you guessing and questioning. A high achieving high school senior with an obsessive sense of morality finds a book. Its not a normal book - its a book that belongs to a Japanese god of death and it has the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in it. Obviously its a prank right? What harm could there be in trying it out? I think if I had found one when I was a little younger I might have ended up thinking in many of the same ways as the protagonist. Would you try the note? Would you put in personal enemies or would you avenge the innocent from criminals? Would you make yourself into a king - or a god? Anyway, if you like killer animation, moral ambiguity, detective mysteries, japanese heavy metal, and/or secular & political commentary wrapped up in a weird mix of eastern and western spiritual symbolism - then this is a show you'll be hooked on. Its about 20 minutes an episode, new episodes are posted on Adultswim.com each week and they play on cartoon network at 12:30 and 3:30 AM on Sunday mornings. The season just started again so its a good time to catch it for free before its only on DVD. (the link by the way, is the first episode, I'm not sure if it will work after this week when they put the new episode up)
