That time has passed and it will make little difference in the future. It certainly is not the issue with Turkey today and what the Israelies need to figure out is they reside in a larger world than the West Bank and Gazza. Turkey is now showing them the "world comunity".
I personally feel disconnected from the Holocaust. It was so long ago and seems too out of this world to fathom. What has had a huge impact on me was when I was 20 and visited Germany again and two Muslim guys were telling me what a great guy Hitler was. Regardless of what happened back then, feeling this sort of hatred was something I was not used to and it shocked me. You can always look back in history and compare the Spanish inquisition, the Holocaust and other atrocities and say "Wow, that is insane" but not have a real connection to something that happened so far back, but the moment you experience contemporary hatred and realize how there are forces determined to divide people, it becomes very real. And that is not me being pro anybody. It is simply stating in all neutrality that the Holocaust message/overuse or whatever you want to label it with would not be powerful if it wasn't for the voices from different regions who advocate it as something positive.
I'm against people exploiting the holocaust and using it for political purposes, I'm not saying the holocaust was good in anyway.
Same here, but ask yourself: Would that be possible without the perception that there are people around who would like to see this part of history repeat itself?
I'm not sure, but as I have said, I have listened to people before who believe that Hitler did good work and who said word for word that getting rid of all Jews would be good for the world, so you would have to ask one of them. Looking at some of the people who reply in P and R, I am confident that a few of them exist here. But this is not just about people who would actively participate, but more about the ones who tend to support it quietly. I ask myself: Out of everyone who sports an avatar of an Israeli flag burning, how many would support another Holocaust? Of course, people do not state in public what they really want to say if they would support it. But for as long as people will lower themselves to that level, the Holocaust card will likely be played successfully. It's a two-way street.
Those people will not likely say this in public, especially not on a forum unless they use proxy and a fake user name and a one time email account. But try being a German citizen amongst a group of people who tend to have those views and trust me, they will let you know assuming that you sympathize.
Turkey is pandering to Islamists and in doing so, is actually revealing just how weak it is to the world community. Weak leaders pander to their base, just as Erdogan is doing. While it is not good for Israel, it is true setback for Turkey and all its Western allies. I guess we don't need to wonder whose side Turkey will default to when the shit hits the fan. p.s. It ain't NATO.
Turkey is one of the nations that might decline and fast due to islamism . History already shows that islamism can show up in a cool place like Egypt or even Afghanistan and turn everything in a cesspool full of madmen .
Touche mon amie, good point and non debatable,by virtue of the fact that it is so painfully obvious what he is "attempting" to do with this thread.
