that's an overture sponsored link (http://www61.overture.com/d/sr/?xargs=15KPjg1wZS5YK9k7 .....) it is not a direct link, right ?
Sorry but you are talking rubbish. Google Page rank is a mathematical calculation based on links. If you have a PR 4 then you have backlinks regardless of whether or not they show in the google crap broken waste of time backlink facility Either that or there is a glitch in the system and what you are seeing is not real PR.
Just because the link (s) that were poitning to your site are not readily available doesn't mean anything. A page with PR has (or had) links pointing to it.
I had a site go up to a pr 4 (there is only 8 links to it in yahoo's link domain, those 8 are from the same section of a site) - none of those from the homepage or anything. I would not have expected it to go anywhere near 4 and rose more than other sites where I had done some link building.
I am sorry but I was monitoring this site from the beginning and I know there were no links pointing to it.
maybe there were links to it when the PR was updated... or something :S Anyway, what usually makes PR irrelevant is... well, the SEOs
Yesterday, when I saw someone mention that pr is being updated, I checked the datacenter tool.... I had a 4 on 7 of the DCs. Now I see only 5 DCs with a 4. My toolbar showed my main page as a 4 and my other pages as a 3. Now my toolbar is showing a 0 for the site. Is it broken? J
On one of my sites the 'PR update' seems to have stopped midway, only some pages show up with PR although they should all display the same.
There have been, at least at some point in time, links pointing to this site. I think what we might be seeing is a change in how Google handles indirect links.
When I say links I mean direct ones href=actual url. I think that's what a link is as specified by the google guidelines. There is change, probably. But take it from me, since this site is up there was no single href pointing to the actual url
