I have to agree with Sawz. You need people in general. It does not matter what they do as long as they are posting.

Of course, here at DP, you have be super careful posting or you might get the mighty Infraction whip.

if we were playing baseball, and the question was ...

    what's more valuable, a pitcher or a hitter ...

    would you answer me

    ..the players?

    It's really a good question.

Think of the forum.. trying to build popularity....

what good is a forum if no one is around to ask questions
...but at the same time, if the forum was filled with people who knew everything, it's be dead quiet in here!

    think about it

Check the 'expert' and bragging threads on any forum and they are usually some of the lowest populated pages

... again .. think of the forum.

oh .. and good pitching beats good hitting any day
... but you can't pitch everyday
    ..hmmm

LMAO, you just argued the same point that we both made. Without both, there would be no discussion so there is no way to claim one is more imortant than another.

As far as you baseball one. That is a different scenario. You can teach someone to hit a ball much easier than you can teach a great pitcher to pitch. So that one I can answer, it would be a pitcher! :D

A forum is quite different!

I think the pitcher's more important, generally.

Both are required, but the people answering the questions are more important.

No 'or' here. Both is needed. Asking and answering what make the forum valuable.

I don't know how this became a Politically Correct thread.

Just wanted to have some fun with it.

Without both it doesn't exactly work out and make the most sense.

Asking a question like this is practically unsolvable :(

I think they are equally as important. The question can't get answered if it isn't asked, and if it can't get answered... well it just can't get answered. :)

    It needs two to tango.....

One is as good as non-existent in the absence of the other...
Try clapping with your one hand and hopefully, you have the answer...;)

ok .. this was mostly a rhetorical question... which came first, the chicken or the egg, and all that jazz...
so no - there really is no FACTUAL answer...

however... i've always loved philosophy, so this question was also steered towards 'your philosophical opinion', and the word 'valuable'.

    here's how i see it:

..i think the 'people who answer the questions' LEGITIMIZE the site...
but the people who ASK the questions - MAKE the site necessary
    ...making them more ''valuable''

    'Where there's a need, there's a business''
    ...Questions are the 'need'
    ... Answers are the suppliers
