GovLoop is like a social network site for government workers. It looks like they're planning a "Government doesn't suck!" march on Oct 30th in Washington D.C. The funniest part of this is reading through all of their comments.
Government doesn't suck - march . Now there is some golden lulz . To amplify the lulz someone need to deploy a big fat banner : Yes it doesn't suck - it blows
Nice thread Rebbecca. I'm sure Will has thrown this quote out before, a commonly shared opinion amongst our founding fathers. Its amazing how far we have "progressed". Don't forget to lean forward. Once we get enough of the population dependent on the federal government for their day to day existence, the SEIU will be untouchable for life, or until the fall of the US, whichever comes first.
Well, judging by all of your comments, a Government Doesn't Suck march is desperately needed. In this excerpt from an article below, it says the march was partially inspired by negative views of feds gathered in a Washington Post poll. I hope they didn't use taxpayer money to make those signs! LOL.
That is a guarantee. A more legitimate hope would be, "I hope they didn't make those signs while on the clock". I got a chuckle out of Jon Stewart actually asking the president a few tough questions the other day when he interviewed him. Then I read articles like this one, and it sounds like he has gone back to cool aide drinking with Colbert. Just in time to try and rally the youth vote, but when a college grad faces years of unemployment and loads of college debt, I suspect it might fall a bit flat: Basically an Anti-Tea party rally. Helps people put a lens on every word coming out of Stewarts mouth, for those who haven't already. Oprah's career took a major hit when she got involved in politics, and so will Stewart's. I suspect he is funny enough to survive it.
Actually, I like the slogan - "Death to Nobody!" LOL. But, I agree, the Rally to Restore Sanity makes fun of the Tea Party Rally, and is, most likely biased in favor of the Democrats. But, the Government Doesn't Suck march, on the other hand, is in equal support of both Republican AND Democrat federal workers across the country!
Hmmm.. You are quoting Thomas Paine. I will quote Churchill : "If you will not fight for your rights when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves. "
The word "success" would be very difficult to apply accurately. Stewart finished up with these words: I thought it was very centerist of him, regardless of the fact he allowed Obama's PAC to use his event as a get out the vote campaign for Democratic interests, and aside from the fact he focused way more on Glenn Beck than he did on Rachel Maddow(not one video of the hate filled Maddow in his montage). Taking aside the fact his centrist message sounded a bit like crocodile tears as the Democrats are bleeding support nation wide, his message fell on completely deaf ears when you read the feedback from leftists like yourself nation wide. The comments section of the HuffPo was representative of the feedback the rest of the left wing blog sites gave to his speech: Source This video of the crowd was hilarious. a huge throng Saturday.....poking fun at...fear-mongers and doomsayers. You must be hearing steps behind you O....nation, enthusiasm can be hard to hide from. Having fun on Saturday....accepting Tuesday for whatever it is.
LMAO. What is Lake Research Partners and Revolution Messaging trying to tell us, that the attendees of the Stewart Rally were a bunch of fringe leftists that are out of step with 60% of the rest of the country who ARE voting Republican in the upcoming eleciton? Hey, I'm a Stewart fan, and I thought his wrap up speech was good, if not well received by his audience. We'll see what type of impact it has on this election, for not being a "political event". Its hard to compare an entertainment event with live concerts where 10,000 attendees are bussed in from New York with the Glenn Beck event with attendees from across the nation who got there on their own dime. In other news, it seems the news stations in Alaska, not happy with the prospect of Joe Miller winning the senate seat, are now making up the news:
