I agree completely. A PR won't matter for anything when it comes to visitors but when it comes to selling links, banners, posts, etc. you can collect more for higher PR sites... strange
It depends on what you are into…Some affiliate program use the PR as an indication for acceptance. Others depend on it to get PR boost for paid links. But generally to me, as long as I get the traffic, PR never comes into play.
Agreed. I have an older website that brings in about $100 a day, and the PR seems stuck forever at 2. I have another website that's a couple of months old that brings in about $2 a day with a PR3. I have more backlinks...keywords that rank...everything to the older website. PR? I don't get it. I'm beginning to think PR is like golf, and better scores are better. LOL
I've found that frequently that does not matter, noticing that the lower PR site will display higher. The PR number will always be secondary to where a site displays. Sometimes the 2 go hand in hand, and sometimes they don't. So the most important aspect really seems to boil down to high high on the page does a website display. When Google got the PageRAnk meter stuck in everybody's browser and heads, it really benefitted them more than anybody else. Suppose we stripped away the PR ranks and meters right now for every website - what's left? What's left is Google having the obligation to display the most relevant sites for the people who are searching. For searchers, the PR is irrelevant, and only content is relevant. Google's heart-beat to supply blood to it's survival, is content, not rank. The PR meter and 1 to 10 scale is merely a gimmick to get people committed to their rating system, which means more time using their site for verification.
My site got high serp when the pagerank was low, now vice versa, I will rather want the serp than the pagerank
Pagerank sucks lol...once you stop focusing on getting some mythical number...webmastering actually starts to become fun again.
I care about the PR for my webmaster blog. I want to sell links there someday. But otherwise, I'd much rather have revenue.
But the only people buying links would be the people who want their PR to go up from it. However, if PR does not matter then those people will not care about raising theirs. Also, Also, people know that a high PR site does not mean that it is a website with a lot of traffic. It just means they got a few links from high ranking websites...
Only people without PR complain, because it really is a money maker. So your site isn't featured by a high site? And that's why you are complaining? My site has only been on Gizmodo and Engadget, and its only PR2 within a 5 month period.
Google Pang rank is extremely Important...It is the difference between making Million's or being satisfied making peanut's...If you are content with making what your making now...Well more power to you..If your looking to grow and possibly compete with your big competitors then Google page rank makes all the difference ...
Umm you really believe that big time companys like Microsoft care what Google ranks their website as?
I like the search engine and use Adsense a lot but I just think this whole pagerank frenzy going on here is ridiculous. Every other topic is about it.
