So many people on DigitalPoint are really concerned about their stupid page rank on Google. Page rank does not really matter that much. I don't care what Google ranks my website as. If I have a lot of people buying stuff from one of my websites, it does not matter what my rank is. I am still making money. Please share your opinion on if page rank really matters or not.
If you're getting the traffic you want and the money you want, they the page rank does not matter. But by that logic, it means that if you had a higher page rank, you might get more traffic and more money as a result.
Traffic doesn't depend on PR, however, if you have a PR5, let's say- you can easily sell that link for a lot of money, either per year or per month. In that way, PR is important.
i think PR is stupid not only because one of my sites dropped from a PR3 to a PR0 at the sams time as its rankings improving month on month so i get less PR and higher SERPS go figure.
Eventually people will stop paying for those links because they will realize that PR does not matter.
Agreed. I got PR4 on a subdomain. - NO OUTBOUND OR INBOUND LINKS. What the heck algorithm are they using?
The algorithms for PR is separate to the SERPS one.. and I agree it will not hurt but its mainly for bragging rights and the excitement that comes from nudging up the PR tree of life.. if you want traffic.. then SERPS is better.
PageRank is important only if the links and their site's pagerank and links are related to the term you want to rank for. If you buy a few links from a strong PR 5-7 sites which has nothing to do with the theme of the term you are promoting you will get a high PR and some money from selling links to some novices but your ranking will stay the same. your relevancy score of "Effective PageRank" will be determined per search term and will take into consideration the relevancy of your backlinks to this particular query.
I also don't care about PR. Its just a green bar that makes you a little happy. Traffic is what I am concerned about and for traffic you need backlinks and when you build backlinks, your PR will increase anyway
If I hover my mouse over the PR bar it says Google then give the same PR to my 3 year old site with 10000+ backlinks that gets 20,000 pageviews a day and I work on fulltime, and my brand new site with about 2 visitors a day - the first site has just been reduced to PR2 the second went from PR0 to PR2. A different site I have has very few links, but one is from a long abandoned (and not a related niche) myspace page that somehow has PR5 - so my site is PR4. So yes, toolbar PR is more or less completely irrelevant - at least for the user, assuming google still use PR internally to some extent - and the world would be a better place without it, as it really bears no relation to the 'importance of the page' and its only purpose is to keep the link-buying / link-exchange business thriving.
PR is not that important. It's just Google's way of trying to take over the world. Resistance is futile. Prepare to be assimilated.
FINALLY!! SOMEONE making sense about PR and it's pointlessness!! Pseudo PR is a waste of time AND money but of course, all the "wanna be" SEO's and idiots buy link for PR. KP
