Hah!! Anyway i like the performing of this SE, and i kinda like the overall look too. Its pleasant to surf it and the results are pretty accurate and clean. The algorithm seems pretty much similar to the Google's (many SERPs would appear similar if not same).
How is it the future? People want their information chosen for them, that's why they search, if they knew what they wanted they wouldn't search. This method uses people to vote for the best, which is how things used to be done. Voting models only work for some sites like Digg for example, not a search engines.
You have managed to predict the next round of DP sales thread I will Goose your Sproose for .50 dacalamollarublesnitx
To be a G Killer the results would have to be far better than G across the board *and* there would have to be a marketing plan that is guaranteed to succeed in changing people's behavior. That's a mighty tall order. Nothing against Sproose, but I don't see it making any progress against G anytime soon. Maybe it could steal some of Y!'s base. /*tom*/
sproose is very nice...i would still use google because it is integrated with so much of my stuff like docs, gmail, maps, etc but sproose is definitely a good newcomer
http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=free+online+games&x=0&y=0 Entire first page of results are irrelevant. For that key phrase at least.
Well, killing google!! It is not a big deal but it needs very hard work and database space so it gives better results to the visitors. That is the only way to beat google.
Although it has some nice features, nothing can compete with Google at the moment. They are the best and we have to face it...
Kind of slow to show search results and who wants to be bothered with having to join in order to vote?
Well, Well, Well. I'd say its not easy to kill Google. Look at these results as someone up here mentioned. http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=free+online+games&x=0&y=0 Totally unrelated results. Other than that: http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=adult+personals&x=0&y=0# First two results are highly irrelevant, I think cheaptickets have paid them for #1, may be. The thing I liked in them is, they killed Googlebomb effect. And I know its really a big deal. Yahoo and MSN still cannot minimize this effect and Google does this after 4+ years, in this January 2007. Checkout this: http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=miserable+failure&x=0&y=0# I feel they have some great mind at the backend. By the way, some searches made me feel that they might be taking google results and fine tunning them using their own algo? Plus user contributed vote system? May be.
Huh?...on what planet do you live? Google is more popular than ever before. They hold nearly 50% of the search market share, and growing every month.
