A search engine powered by the people is a bad idea IMHO.
It improves the ranking of a page through votes - manipulable. This page will soon end up corrupted up like digg, dmoz, etc.

Cant kill even a ant!..there vote system is based on user input? wow spammers can code a script to bring their sites to #1 position in a small amount of time.

I doubt that this is a google killer. It search results take to long to come up.

    haha, love it ;)

especially since it brings up my site at #1 for "refurbished tools" and "reconditioned power tools"...so it MUST be good ;)

The problem with trying to de-thrown Google is all in the brand recognition. Nobody can touch Google there, not even Yahoo. I don't care how good an engines algo is, if people don't know about it there won't be any shift in market share.

Pretty impressive, odds of it "killing" google is slim to none... more around the the none side though :) It may, however be enough to threaten them and to offer a healthy buy-out of a sliver or google's vast wealth ;)

Too bad Google holds a patent on "voting on the results of a search".
Even if these guys made it big, Google can cripple them with patents they hold.

Not a google killer, but much like digg. I like the idea of the votes losing value over time. Only best results would keep value. I could also see high potential for exploit. Like a robot clicking a site link a thousand times to give it a better score.
