Competition is a good thing...hopefully it gains steam and gives the biggest search engines a run for their money.
it sux, its nowhere as good as google's results plus the design looks as if i were searching in a parked domain
Results are half way decent even though my site isnt ranked first page but after you hit about the 6th page the results get really bad. Even though its a competitor of mine ranked # 1 on that engine which I agree with...Google doesnt see that site as being # 1
Well, http://search.wikia.com/wiki/Search_Wikia seems to feel they are the next Google killer and they bought the old Grub project to do all the web crawling in a distributed environment.
One of the things that made Google successful was using US media and Hollywood, both as free publicity tool and embedded advertisement. Something that is unique for the US and has also worked for Apple and YouTube. Google won't be killed, yet it might kill itself and make room for competition in a new area. The same thing that happend to Microsoft. If there are Google killers, then they will be local and country based or niche based. But Google will probably buy them before they get too big.
Nothing can kill Google. The search engine is good but I see no reason why I should use any other search engine while Google still exists.
It won't kill Google. I can't imagine a search engine other than MSN or Yahoo taking down Google at this point. Wikia was touted on Digg this week as a possible Google killer, because it has the backing of the guy who helped start Wikipedia. Then everyone realized that Wikipedia has just about the worst search of any major site on the internet, with the possible exception of Digg.
Wikipedia is in the top 5 on most google searches for major keywords. I wonder how that is going to change, once they try to compete with Google on search.
It may or may not be a google killer one day, but one thing is for certain... Google won't last forever. Someone will eventually over take them.
lol.......i searched for the keyword directory submission and it showed yahoo mail at no. 2 spot What shall i say......Google still rules! Besides there are many search enines that promises the spam killing etc etc........
