Building a google killer is probably not doable. They have a huge head start. But why bother? Why not just build a decent SE? Good enough to be better than MSN or ASK? Give a unique twist to it. Maybe make one that appeals to techies? Or one that doesnt plaster ads on all the pages? Then you build up some 'buzz' among the techies and web 2.0 types. And then google buys you out for tons of $$$$$.
A nice site, however it can't exactly be called a google killer Google is unbeatable at this moment, and also this site doesn't beats google. However the results of this search engine look better to me than SE's like ask or MSN. I saw this SE is quite big too, a few of my sites seem to be indexed, and well, those sites aren't the biggest ones Cheeries hans
I doubt that Google will be killed by this but I like the results, very nice, reach is only needed now. The first AI-driven SE will rule the world.
There was a discussion about this on my blog, and one comment was interesting. It went something like, And I think that's true... kind of.
I like it but it will be hard for them to kill Google. Google owns most big things on the web. But it would be nice if there came a new rival for them
a search engine based on human votes is just stupid who would concieve of such an idea?! HOW DO THEY THINK THIS WILL WORK?! wait whats a backlink again? in all seriousness my site was on the third page for a search term and is now number 1 on page 1 after I voted for it once. What kind of algorythm is that? If they overtake google like tomorrow I'll be real happy tho
im sorry i gotta point this out but.... http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=admarketplace.ca http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=admarketplace.ca&mkt=en-ca&FORM=LIVSOP&go.x=0&go.y=0&go=Search anything look the same? my guess is they pull results from msn, save them in a database and add a rating function i do not believe they have their own spider. the results are also kind of bad.... http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=chat+rooms
i own half the main page results for my product http://www.sproose.com/pages/search/search.jsp?query=rs6000+servers
you know google doesnt give pr luv to search engines, i know a guy who had a pr8 news portal site and when he added a search it went down to pr2
Do you really think that Google, which is here for years will suddenly fall to this? Well, I really don't think so...
