The Google Killer has arrived.................

interesting. the search results has a thumbtail to preview the webpage. but not likely a good google challenger.

 

It's too soon to tell me that someone kill google. May be 20 years laters

I suppose beating google would be possible but not probable. Someone on this forum should make a search engine, make it decent and get the dpers to use it instead of others, then spread the word by mouth to your friends...

Still prob wouldn't happen but would be a good experiment to see how much power the dpers and other sites like this could have.

 

I don't think Dp'ers would support it even if it was better than google. Google is a habbit for people. Even I built my own search engine http://www.vmgo.com/ with it's own database and even I can't stop using google. Google is a powerful force that will not be knocked down easily.

Even this thread uses google to get people to look at it and it worked. Every new engine that pops up in the alternative search engines category on DP gets compared to google, so to beat google would be a massive feat!

The only way to get people to take note and use another engine other than google is to make people more money than they can make with google. Adsense makes people money. Adwords makes people money. When you create an engine that makes people more money than google makes them, then you'll have a winner.

 

considering the image search doesn't work I think it needs some work.

I just checked out your engine and typed in my highest value KW phrase:

"Sacramento Wedding DJs" --- to my amazement, I'm listed in three slots on page one (that's better than Google, which is usually just my web site at organic slot #3).

Keep up the good work........I like the way you incorporate relevant VIDEO feeds in the search results. (I don't use video or You Tube to promote my site, but maybe I should start doing this?)

Eventually, your methodology (algorithm) may prove to be the correct route to follow!

it looks real good....nice design! but other than that it looks like any other search engine. the image results for "animals" were better than google though at least for the initial part. but i love how google tells me "also look for:" (related searches....)
i don't think i will ever be needing that search engine again

i will try it out for a couple of days. i just wish the layout was a bit better. right now it is too difficult for me to sort thru stuff...

 

microsoft may be able to compete with google here - its called bing. bing is going to take off because of the huge amount of marketing they're doing

Whoa, this is like the 10 millionth Google killer. It's not really a Google killer, really a Yahoo killer, because it is set up with a bunch of news content on the page. It has a very bad design though.

 

I might be wrong, but I think one of the main appeals of Google is that the page is almost blank, with nothing in your face when you go to search. That search engine seems like Yahoo to me, and things like having the news and entertainment stuff there every time you go to the page just gets annoying.

No offence to you though, it's just a personal problem I have with sites like Yahoo, and why I'll almost definitely never go back to them.

 

I don't think its that bad. I did a few trial search and it came back with the right answer.

I have added it to my search engines on FireFox.

when google came there was no competion for yahoo and excite

Take those billions of dollars, create a corporation that everyone LOVES working for, pay those highly intelligent people lots of money to turn themselves into a synergistic think tank that produces the best possible ideas because of their love for said corporation.

Easy? No, but the results taste great!
