Every time Google comes out with a new service, there is a lot of huffs and puffs. I think it is to early to speculate, predict or pass a judgment. However, going by the historical data, Google Chrome may prove to a be death nail for some browsers. WAIT & WATCH.

Google has two things that Firefox doesn't. Brand and distribution.

Firefox became successful by spreading virally throughout the geek crowd. Most of the non-geeks still use IE. They haven't heard of firefox, but they use google everyday. If google puts a link to their new browser on the google.com homepage, and gets a lot of good PR, it might start making some serious inroads on IE. Let's hope so!

Has anyone downloaded the beta version of Google Chrome and if so, how is it working?

Is it any better in speed, performance and security than IE & Firefox?

Any problems after downloading and using it?

What do you think, Should I download it or Not?

it's typically of big companies to announce the imminent launch of a new product to get people talking about it in preparation for it's downlaod becoming available. Personally I would avoid downloading it for upto 6 months to allow Google to iron out any problems with it and security flaws.

yes it was annoucned today in the mainstream media, I think it will come as a major headache for IE and firefox, but I won't be downloading it for 6 months until they have had time to sort out bugs and security flaws, which always come with new browser and software launches. It's a move in the right direction though.

It will mostly affect FF I guess, because most of us are using Windows as OS, and IE comes with it, so I think it will mostly affect FF
