I've read from some people that they feel Google does follow past a nofollow tag to index a page but this does not contribute as a back link. I have tested this with two different new sites and the nofollow tag / link showed up in Google search results but the bot did not go beyond the link and actually index the website. Anyone seen anything different?
I know it will not give page rank to the site. I have seen people say site will be followed also. I personaly stay away from any site that has links with no follow. I would not add any site to site useing no follow tags or redirections.
thanks but does anyone know for sure whether the bot really does index a page linked from a nofollow tag (forgetting about page rank for the time being)
google implemented the no follow link to at least stop spam. so it will igonore all no follow link usually found in comments.
hmmm... Google may not follow no-follow links in regards to indexing them, but they do influence PR. I have a site that is a PR 2, and all of the back links are from the "Recent Blog" function of the board, yet none of them are indexed.
