I just got the news Google is moving to Universal Personalized Search.

Meaning .. from now on each person's individual search history will determine which sites come up for them specific to what they have searched/visited in the past.

No more number 1 on Google because every number 1 spot will be custom to each individual user's past history.

Time to buy some traffic ladies and gentlemen.

Oh wow, To be honest, i personaly don't like the sound of that. I like google search the way it is now.

Is this just an idea or have they got a date in mind? Suppose there will be more seo tools if it happens though.

Likewise here too I hate to see all my SEO work going to the drain. Not sure when this happens but interestingly I found something.

"It doesn't mean that the normal organic results won't show any more.
It just means that the first result will be the places you visited before.
They're just making the assumption that often when you look for something - you already found it previously, so sites that you went to are stored and presented above the organic results to save you time.
SEO will still be just as important as ever
    . "

I don't think it's anything to worry about, the privacy brigade will have everyone opting out of it in no time.

yep agree because if they personalized the what about the quality of websites served to users. One will say "google search su*ks and other user will say" it rocks. Its very difficult to implement it. Also why the billion dollar industry will take such a huge risk of shifting its current billion dollar model.

This seems like old news, back when everyone was getting paranoid over Google Personalized Search, which the general population never wound up using anyway (like SideWiki). Search will never die. There will just be evolution, but the core structure of it will never go away.

it sounds like people who have already done the hard work and SEOed thier websites will have the upper hand - as they'll have visitors to their site and be more popular. It seems it will be harder for new/younger sites to develop traffic since the top of the search engines will be loaded with popular sites.

Ya, I will look for an alternative advertiser if this happens.

Ya, I wouldn't want this myself. If I'm still searching for something then that means I didn't find the info I need on the sites I previously visited and now they want to show those results on the top? Don't make any sense.

Thats why i don't care for SEO..There so many marketers out there that put
all there eggs in one basket. Build all there traffic around SEO and when google does a
slap there sites are gone for good.

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if i put all of eggs into SEO its just too unpredictable.

Now can I have it as one of my many traffic sources....yea sure.

But will that be the only thing i depend on Hell NO!!!!

I understand that Google has been using individual search history for ages hence their enforcement of privacy policies

Google "Personalized Seach" has already been applied for a months ago. I am sure this could effect the search results but it is not about changed whole games on the board. If you have read carefully about the feedbacks you would see that personalized search make annoying more than help for peoples. Many peoples do prefer for the natural results and they will judge the best for themselves instead of being judged automatically by Google.

If you look carefully again when do search on Google, you would see a constantly change on the top right section. If I remember correctly, Google did apply "Personalized Search" enabled automaticaly by default around 6 months ago without asking your permission. This applied when you logged in some of Google services. The results will be customized just for you unless you have changed settings to disabled or get yourself logged out.

However, again after received the negative feedbacks, Google has withdrawn the auto enabled and just put them as optional. If some users want their results to be personalized, then they have to go and change setting themselves.

Far from being the end of SEO, it makes it more important than ever.
It's vital to grab people from the first page of serps the first time they make a particular search.
Get to the top of the page, make your snippet enticing, and dominate the rest of the page with sponsored links, your brand's FaceBook page, Twitter account, wikipedia page etc etc.
As long as people are using search engines, SEO is important. You just have to keep optimising smarter.
