the future of white hat SEO, where is it going?

1 - isn't SEO getting a little too crowded to be economic for a site owner?
2 - will google find a way to fight webmasters manupulations on search results?
3 - and finally, will facebook replace google for search? (personalization and localization of search)

Sitting down with some my collgues (super affiliates and SEOs), there were claims that SEO has roughly about 2 years of full power, and after that will lose its importance as facebook personalized search will kick in.

    my thoughts:
1 -crowded? it is always possible to find long tails...
2 - as long as BHW exists, big G will have to continue working hard , but for white hats, it's becoming harder and harder to promote their sites.
3 - the big bang. once facebok search kicks in, white hat SEO as we know it, is no more.

Ii'll be happy to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Too bad white hat isn't working as well as it should. In some of the SERPS I watch the first page is filled up with 8 to 9 affiliate websites. Most of which got there from purchasing links on wordpress themes and comment spamming on do-follow blogs. It actually makes me sick to see all this. At the moment white hats are having a tough time.

Now SEO is really over crowded, but Google algorithm is changing continuously to avoid the spamming in search results.I'll not agree with the third point at all.To kick out Google search,Facebook will have to wait for long years.

I highly doubt that Facebook will come out with a search engine that will take over Google... and even then that search engine will have its own "SEO". You just have to keep adapting to the game.

Facebook and Google are primarily two different things. They don't do each other's fields so well.

As for white hat and SEO, it's an arms race and it always will be.

Is like star wars.... dont go to the dark side!!

    Getting back to the post...
Crowded? yes... the nice good high traffic niches are full of high PR pages, there are a few left but you still gotta fight with some giants.
Google is super big not only moneywhise, but for the last 13 years or so has been placed on the minds of the consumer. Facebook could have a search, and I might use it from time to time but I will never give my back to google.
Google is always trying to find the way to fight spammers. I used to spam. is worthless in the end, you will eventually get caught b google and they are getting better and better.

I think the more time passes, the more weight will be given to social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc. as they currently are the most "natural" repositories for outbound links. It's interesting to think the SEO of the future would be entirely viral marketing.
