Interested in your opinion about future of search engines

 

i can not imagine .. my head is going to blast if i want to think about it

 

The future of SE is as bright and shinning as today. They will have to be the assistants and helpers of the WWW as they are doing it today.

 

you jusy say "best places near me" with to your pc and it will answer your question with speak

 

Without search engine it will be impossible to use internet.May the system and way of using it will change but it can't be vanished.according to Oren Etzoni, a Washington University computer scientist,"We could soon view today’s keyword searching with the same nostalgia and amusement reserved for bygone technologies such as electric typewriters and vinyl records,"

 

One word, mobile! Found this earlier today, its a smartphone only search engine, pretty neat idea actually. - mazoom.mobi - It basically only indexes mobile optimized websites.

 

The future is not only mobile, but also relevancy. In future, search interface will change from link based listings to more advanced visual interfaces which will help users decide what link to click. As a journalist I had a look at many search engines that will come up soon, and most of them have completely different interfaces that take many things into account. For example facebook, twitter and much more. Search engines are going to be more social, less privacy invading and so on. Only by going new paths, new search engines will be able to go after Google. But then again, looking how people complained about Bing being used in Spiderman, it seems like it will take some time until new engines will be "accepted", because there are too many fanboys. Sure, you can love your favorite search engine, but you should also be open for new things. I personally use Bing and not Google - because I find they deliver better results and their images at the startpage inspire me

 

I think search engines will continue to be relevant but there would be splits away from them, as more web content is created (allowing for more comprehensive specialised websites to be used as partial substitutes). For example:- For many topics, many people would first search on Wikipedia rather than on a search engine.- For information about a particular movie or tv show, many people would search on IMDb or tv.com rather than a search engine- For information about a particular video game, many people would look on a website dedicated to video games e.g. gamefaqs.com- For videos, many people would go directly to youtube

 

Search engines are not going anywhere soon. Maybe there will be changes on the ways they are accessed ( search bar anyone? ) but they'll stick around.

It's gonna be the same with highly improvised algorithm..

 

I wonder if it's possible that Google will be replaced by a new underdog, just as Google itself replaced Yahoo and other search engines as the #1 search engine..

Maybe there will be something big with search engines in the future. Different features or abilities maybe.

 

There will only be expansion. It might be that biggest search engines will merge their databases and there will be a unified web search environment.

 

I believe the future of search engine wont just be limited to internet only but we will have search engines for our T.V media, which will help us to find our favourite programs and watch them anytime we want. [We may not see this in coming 2-5 years but we will definately see this at some point in future.]

Also I believe in far distant future 20-50 years from now we will have personalised search engines integrated which will keep contact with our friends, car, relatives etc. and whenever we want to know about our friend, we will just search his/her name in our customized search engine and all the live information will appear which the SE will have gathered through the telecom service and the registed car etc. and we will also be able to find out their daily events so we can contact each other in free time.

I know it sounds like some kind of crazy sci-fi story but I believe it will be done soon and it will integrate in our lives the same way Google, Facebook and twitter have.

 

There's a lot on the line, like duckduckgo though despite of those many search engines one thing is for sure google will always be the king.

 

I think feature of search engine is very good. Now a days in each and every internet user every time using search engine to gain knowledge to do anything. Without search engine i cant think i can use internet.

So without search engine its impossible task. Search engine job will not end in future

 

We cannot express the future of search engines. It will be good because search engine will index and organize all the information and gives related results when we search!!
